Thank you sky. Not IP, only Express but even so, I am worried if she is able to cope given that the number of subjects will increase from 4 to 9.

RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
Seeking opinion from parents with kids who normally only got average results (mid 60++ range) but did better in PSLE.
Since your children will be in Sec 2 next year, I am trying to understand if it’s challenging for them to cope with Sec 1 without tuition? Is it stressful or difficult to catch up with the rest of the students in the Sec 1 class? Any who can’t cope and school asked them to drop to NA?
My DD1 somehow already decided on the school choices but since last night, I suddenly felt kind of unease and worried that DD1 might not be able to cope with Sec 1 with her current choice.
Do drop me a PM if it’s inconvenient to share publicly. Thank you. -

Someone told me this. If school cohort is strong, they will be using New Syllabus Mathematics which is meant for above average students.
If weaker intake, school will use Discovering Mathematics. From the textbooks books they use, will roughly know the standard.
I prefer school with closer median. If possible, will avoid schools that takes in affiliate students at 188-200 for Express stream. Unless students are streamed by ability, learning pace will be slowed down. -

Finally the end of the 6-year journey. DD1 results slightly exceed expectation, not because she did well but my expectation is really very very very low as she is not academically inclined.
We also somewhat concluded the 6-choices. Only thinking if we should swap the 1st and 2nd choice school. I prefer 2nd choice school due to proximity to home but she prefer the 1st....
Cannot imagine next year another PSLE 😓. -

Me!! Getting more and more nervous. My girl is already soundly asleep though. Maybe I should stay home tomorrow. Just let DH accompany DD1 to school.

Just for your reference, friends’ kids from 2018 PSLE. Boy - prelim results avg 85. T-score 230+2. Girl - prelim results avg 80. T-score 247+2. Both from same SAP school. Maybe it is really the different subjects mean (plus some luck).
Hi parents, if four subjects 75 marks each, is it possible to get 230 to 235?
However most kids with avg around 85 in prelim got above 250. -

To reduce unnecessary anxiety, I stop following this forum/ thread for the longest time but could not control any longer. I was so worry if my DD1 is the only one who feel the papers are tough. It looks like she is not alone. So far Chinese is the only paper she finds it easier. Hope tomorrow science paper is not another Olympiad competition.

RE: Comparing English Enrichment Programmes
At least, learning lab published its tuition fee on the website, very detailed by level and subject. Parents are well aware the fees they need to pay for the Academic Year.

RE: Comparing English Enrichment Programmes
As I understand, all the while there is an assistant teacher in the class (and smaller class size too), not only now. They should be transparent to parents about the fee increase, not just quietly adjust in the invoice and for parents to find out.

Hi, no improvement at all! Now with the exploded class size, I am praying hard that her results do not drop further.
Hi, my boy also in p5 in the sat 2pm class. Which class is your girl in? Have you seen improvements so far in both your kids after joining academia?
My p6 is in weekend class but p5 in weekday class. Planning to pull out my p5 (will wait for her mid year results) at end of term 2 but p6 will stay put as it is not a good idea to change tuition centre at this point.
For my p5, I feel I am being overcharged for paying a tutor who is only an assistant teacher in other classes. There is only 1 tutor assigned to her class. Furthermore that tutor is not even an ex-sch teacher or posses convincing credential, ok to be an assistant teacher but not as the main and only teacher.
