You can employ a maid to help you on ur house chores (to lighten ur burden). Look for a gf who is willing to share ur load. It is not easy to find someone who is willing to accept ur kids, that is why i put all my time on work n kid.

You should concentrate on ur kids… once u passed their childhood you gonna missed it.

Your own flesh and blood once in a life time… women u can find anytime… got the hint?

Our government is really contradicting. They knew maids will try to do part time during their off days but they simply ignored. Maybe they are controlling people employing maids, bcoz they can’t earn much from there; especially those who can get special rate on their levy but pushing couples to boast the birth rate. They should do a survey before implementing the off days.


Year 2000, my 1st maid’s salary was S$210.00 to S$220.00 upfront S$1.7k and now 2013 is S$460.00 to S$500.00 upfront easily 3 to 4k, some even want almost up to 5k (which include their loans, insurance, bond, exam fees, course fees and agency fees). Look at our salary… with the same company u working now… does yours up so much?

Yes u’re liable even thou u’re not aware her moonlighting.

If she hurt herself on her p/time job u’re liable.

Remember this… anything will to happen to her… u’re still responsible coz she is under ur employment.

I wanted to employ a maid but bcoz of these… I’m still considering… Government did not protect us… what’s the purposes of spending our hard earn money and inviting troubles?

but i’m not the first time taking maid. my first maid was 13yrs ago. i have never try filipino maids so giving myself a chance to try it out. who knows…

Nope. only came here 2 mths plus if not wrong. she told me she ran away from home. do not understand why the agent can gave me this kind of maid. moreover nothing much for her to do at home.

I treat my previous maid not bad… let her have her nap for afew hours, let her do whatever she want to do. Purposely send my kid to childcare to let her to be more free, bring her out for dinner almost every week. Whole day the house is empty. My kid only at home before 0700am and after 1830hrs. for myself only reach home after 2000hrs… Buy her nice clothes but ended up she ran away from home. i have to go MOM for coffee. so much freedom… less work but in the end what i got from her???

I’m looking for a part time helper - once/two a week (4hrs) afternoon and I’m staying in Jurong anyone can introduce?

I just called up the MOM regards to maid moonlighting without employer’s knowledge or injured herself while doing p/time. She said employer is reliable for the maid.


I would suggest, to lodge a police report follow by a complaint/feedback to MOM against the maid.

The only way is… all of us to write in to MOM to remove the off day from 4 days to 1 day.

Anyway no point playing guessing game. The best is to check with MOM.

I believed if anything will to happen to the maid the current employer (the actual employer) will have to face the problem. Overall we are at the losing end.


Is there anyway out to protect ourself from getting all the unnecessary trouble?
