Well, it makes sense that HCI is targetting certain SAP primary schools (I understand HCI targets different SAP schools in different years) when sending a team for Po Leung Kuk Math competition. One of the reasons for training and sending primary school students for competitions is to attract them to eventually join the school. Apparently, the SAP primary schools’ Math talented students are more likely to join HCI. As it is, HCI is clearly lagging behind RI and NUSH, in Math & Science competitions. This year, only 2 of its students made it into top 30 in SMO Junior - its worst results in the SMO history. The last time HCI sent an IMO rep was in 2008. In recent years, HCI is also not performing as well as before, in the Science Olympiads. However, I would say HCI is still going strong in Informatics/programming and humanities type of events/competitions.

For the record, RI does take in mainstream students under Math DSA. However, they are few and far between. Some years, less than 4, some years, 1 or even none.

Also unfortunately, NUSH doesn’t do too well in the intermediate and senior section these years. Maybe it’ll do better when the current batch of juniors grow older?

Artume, you are too modest. I thought NUSH is doing fine at SMO Senior and Open categories. I did a count. 7 out of top 30 positions come from NUSH for both categories, this year. That can’t be considered bad. Last year, 3 out of top 4 positions in Open category were from NUSH too.

Please dun just post hear say thing in public forum... It's like scaring ppl off and creating bad image of the sch. Just to share that some kids got in top schools, but their parents maybe not so Hao Lian to want to announce to the whole wide world via this type of platform and chose to share with their close friends and family only. Hence, therefore resulted on less ppl can 'hear say' MS kids got in top sch.

My nephew by the way got into RI via DSA last year. He is not a gepper for your info and my cousin cannot even bother to visit this site to announce their joy.

😂 , this is the first time I hear saying such an excellent boy. Could you only tell me his surname? Thanks.
Some parents are strong curious and hope to know his surname.

I think many mainstream students do get into RI DSA via sports, cca. Not that unusual. It is via academic route that is hard. The poster did not mention how the nephew got into RI.
