    • RE: IP -SELECTION CRITERIA

I am also in the same boat. my daughter is in Sec 2 and we are exploring the option of IP in Sec3.

Is it good to continue with O Levels and go for JC or opt for IP in Sec 3…! We are in a dilemma.
Yeah. Sad that NJC does not offer 4 year IP anymore. Now, it is VJC, TJC and RGS/RI.
It will be good to hear views… if NJC is a better school then it might be wise to wait until after O levels…!
      any suggestions are most welcome.

      Hi,

      http://www.hindikibindi.com
also a good site for hindi - english dictionary..
I agree with others that reading short stories, practising picture compositions is a good way to improve hindi for us - non hindi speaking people

    • RE: Choose Secondary school for 2010

Thanks Kiasu child for sharing your views…!!

I heard similar views… but i still not clear how it works… MOE says, the seat will not be filled with a pupil with lower PSLE score (including the decimal thingy…)…

In the situation u mentioned… Was HCI cutoff lower than what the boy got…? If HCI cut off was higher than what the boy got… then irrespective of he choosing HCI as 1st or 6th choice would not matter…

Thanks for your views. I will be putting in crescent as my first choice. Agree with you that Cedar is a good school. We live in the west so distance is a problem. that is why preferring Crescent.

    • RE: Choose Secondary school for 2010

Parents, my daughter got 246. Methodist COP is 253…!

I want to chooose MGS as 1st choice and Crescent as 2nd choice…
Is it too optimistic to opt Methodist as 1st choice…? Is there a ray of hope…? any experiences to share…??
She has prefect/leadership certificates… not sure if those kinda things help in appealing…

      Appreciate your feedback.

    • RE: Choose Secondary school for 2010

I checked with MOE on the same topic. As others have mentioned in one of the threads, there are decimals attached to the scores we see. So every pupil has a different PSLE score. As rightly mentioned, a student will be scanned through all this six choices until he gets one, before the computer checks the next lower PSLE score pupil. this is what i understand from the booklet and from talking to MOE.

If for some reason many pupils opt for a particular school, no doubt the COP might be more. but opting that particular school as #1 choice of # 6 choice does not help at all.
      My few cents of thought.
