just thought that I should share my sister’s experience with her helper that borrow from 2 loan sharks and 3 or 4 ( not sure )credit company, a total amount about 9k




initially, didn’t want to bring it up but found out that the former helper is trying again to come back Singapore and presumably, repeat the same trick of applying lots of illegal and legal loans then escaping back to Philippines

i sent my previous Myanmar Maid Swe Swe Htike home due to hp usage!


She was with me for 1 year 9 months. I was dumb enough to give her wifi access cause she is my first helper, thinking that she can contact her family, so we have a happy maid and happy life. I was Sooooo Wrong.

the rule given was that she can use after her chores and night. but she took me for granted. use in the day, hide in toilet. :imconstipated: Thinking that I will keep her until her 2 year contract, her attitude got worse, yawn in the day, yawn in the car.
Eventually, I started a curfew, wifi only from 8 to 11pm. after that use her own prepay. (can set wifi access timing on router if your maid used until late night.).

Of course she is not very happy, hence often give me black face. Therefore, decided to give her a big surprise by buying her a one way ticket.

With your full-time maid, how clean is your house?


I have high expectation of cleanliness at home. Prior to my 3rd child, I have been working part-time / from home, as well as doing all the house chores, so I am definitely not the princess / queen that sit there and direct people around. In fact, since I am familiar, I know all the places that will be easily missed during cleaning.

So wonder what are the reasonable expectations. When you touch the window grill and slightly dusty, spot one or 2 rice grains below the kitchen cabinet, inside of microwave not clean, finger stain on switches…is this too much to request? Or is my maid just slow? She has been with me for 6 months, I do remind her and show her places that needs to be clean, but once in a while when I spot check, there are things not to my expectation. I will tell her nicely and she will clean it, but I am tired of doing spot-check. I have a TO do list categorized into (daily, weekly, monthly), but she seems to leave things out here and there.

just want to comment on PCF at Tampines. I can understand that sometimes the teacher might need time off therefore would show the kids cartoon. But I think SPONGEBOB squarepants should be the last cartoon to show to kids? The cartoon teach words like "stupid, idiot and dumb" with alien and weird stuff. My DS been in nursery since Jan, other than the initial separation anxiety, she had no issue going to school until recently, she refused to go or cry upon reaching, cause she said she doesn’t want to watch spongebob again. Even though the teacher promised not to show it again, but that already left a negative experience for her. Sigh.

am interested in River Valley and hence looking around for property within 1km. Checked the OneMap suggested, the property I am interested in is at the border line, within 1 km.


My question is, the OneMap service by MOE is released every year…do they actually ‘update’ the map? Like whatever that was previous 0.98 km become 1.01 km?
