      Hi,

Anyone knows whether the children should be in normal sch uniform or the PE T-shirt on the 1st day of Sch, which happened to be a Tue? It was mentioned during the orientation that the students would be having jump jam every Tue, so not too sure whether they should be wearing PE T-shirt on 4 Jan.

      Hi Mom74,

My DD will be in P1 next yr too. I spoke to one of the teachers during registeration, she said target to go single session in 2014 (target only, not cfm yet). So for our children, P1 & P2 still pm session.

      Spelling

I started to teach my boy phonics and reading since Jan 2008, but I have never made him memorize the spelling of any words. I also did not make him practice writing any words. Since he is only 4 years 8 months old now, I thought I will let him practice writing words when he is older.

Yesterday I thought of testing him. I have a book of 128 high frequency words. I read out each word, then asked him to tell me how to spell the word. I am surprised to find out that he can spell all these words with a tick in the photos below !

My boy has a very strong foundation in phonics, and I think that really helps him to spell phonetic words. He has been reading the Ladybird Key Word series everyday, and he has read the common words hundreds of times already, so he can spell many non-phonetic sight words too. Phonics and reading consistently really make spelling very easy 😄

      Hi Tamarind,
I read that you have this book on 128 high frequency words. Do you mind posting and sharing these 128 words? Many Thanks in advance.

    • RE: How to teach your child to tell time in English?

      Hi all,

      Thanks for your comments.

      Wan,
Yes, it involves maths concept and the problem is the child does not know multiplication yet. We incorporate time in daily life too, but we always say it in Mandarin. Hmm… maybe I can start saying it in English instead.

      Concern2,
      I intend to teach ‘three twenty-five’, ‘two-fifty’.

      Jedamum,
Good idea. Nvr thot of that.

    • How to teach your child to tell time in English?

      Hi Mummies,

I need some advise as to how to teach a 5 YO to tell time in English.
So far, I only teach the X o’clock & half past X type. How to teach minutes?

Btw, the child already know how to tell time in Mandrain. So I also need to make sure that the child does not get confused with the English version.
