    • RE: Transferring My Maid

Esteema and Angelique thanks a lot for your inputs.

Agree that sending back home with a flight ticket is the better option from Employer point of view.
Currently it is minor irritations that she is giving me. But after reading a few threads on this forum and I saw what other maids are putting their employers through, I’ve decided to keep her.
So just counseled her for now and will observe if she will improve.
cheeyf2003 - for now I’ve decided to retain her.

    • RE: Transferring My Maid

I'm thinking of terminating my maid's contract as she is giving me too much headache!

From what I understand I have two options:
Option 1) Tell her/agent I'm terminating her contract. Buy her a ticket to fly back home. Pay one month additioanl salary in lieu of notice period.
Option 2) Send to agent for transfer.

The first option is straight forward and hassle free for me. But she won't have an opportunity to find another job. She seems to be from a back ground where she needs money. So I feel sending her home (even though with 1 month extra salary) may not be fair for her. Your thoughts, please.

I've never used the transfer option before and hence I'm not sure how it works? Need advise on a few questions below:
      1) Do I send her to her agency while she waits to find another employer? I'm not sure it is safe to keep her in my house when she knows I'm firing her.
      2) Will I still be her employer (and be responsible for her, pay levy, any medical etc etc) till the point she is transferred to another employer? Or is there any way I can transfer her to agency first?
      3) How much time is considered to be reasonable to find another employer?
      4) Say I give her 2 weeks max to find another employer, what happens at the end of 2 weeks if she does not find another employer? Who has to bare the cost of her air ticket?
      5) Leaving her for 2 weeks at the agents place, means I'll have to pay for the boarding/food allowance for each day. Could I bargain to offset it with her salary?

Anyone of you have transfer experience, please share.

She has already been with me for nearing one year, so there is no free replacement option.

      psle sad mum:
      zbear:

I like to advise all parents and students to be very careful when you submit your application.

Based on what I see from this year's S1 Posting, 2015 COP is not a very good indicator of what might be this year's COP. MOE is very good at springing surprises.

Good luck to all and may you get into your dream JC.

      😄

why do you think is not a good indicator? do you think the cop will drop or increase?

Any idea if there is a difference in the number of vacancies for ACSI IB intake for O level students, since MGS girls will also be joining? Will the number of seats for O level be decreased, hence altering the COP? Same applies to VJC?

My son has scored 7(minus 2 for CCA) = 5 points for his O Levels. His results are as follows:

      English A1
      Humanities A2
      E Math A1
      A Math A1
      Physics A1
      Chemistry A1
      Biology A1
      MT B3

He is considering between VJC A level and ACSI IB Diploma.
As A Levels seems a natural continuation of O Levels we feel it will be better suited for him. But VJC is very far from our house as we live in the north. At the same time we have a few apprehensions regarding the ACSI IB, since he comes from a O level track and has to compete with ACSI IP students. I believe ACSI prepares their IP students for the IB’s ‘Extended Essay’ and ‘Theory of Knowledge’ by provided bridging course in Sec3 and Sec4. Hence would O level students be disadvantaged? Anybody with their kids joining from O level to IB please share your experience. How did your kids cope? My son is strong in English but could not cope up very well with Literature in lower secondary. Would this affect his performance in IB? He reads widely, but mostly non-fictional books. Would that be a advantage or a disadvantage for IB? I’m mainly trying to gauge his suitability to the IB program. Any inputs from fellow parents and students are very much appreciated. Thanks.
