    • RE: All About Guzheng/Pipa

      Dear parents,

Is there anyone’s children taking GUZHENG exam @ NUS last year ? I found the grading was a bit unfair. My daughter has been learning Guzheng since P1 and she is P4 this year. She was taking Grade 4 last year @ NUS. Her classmate who was taking Grade 4 as well but she was just started learning Guzheng few months before the exam. According to her guzheng teacher,"it is fine as long as you can "play" and remember the entire songs". I was in the hall with both of them on the exam day and I saw how she played. She can "play" but the fingers posture is wrong and the songs are not smooth. Apparently, she is a beginner of Guzheng. However, both of them got *distinction with same score with the same comment from the examiner. I am very surprise, I know music as I play piano and guitar. I am sorry to say this, her standard is not yet up to distinction level. My daughter is very demotivated now.

      Anyone experience that ?

      Regards
      Mary
