    • RE: Helping a child to concentrate

      Amulet:
Is there any supplements that can improve the child's attention span?

Sadly my DD is like me wen I was young, lose concentration, day dream, not focused and get distracted very easily *eg. Wen she is trying to wear her shoes, her hands will be on the shoes but eyes and mind will be elsewhere and thus takes very long to complete her task*

All the teachers even church teacher also feedback the same thing to me. That she is smart but she can't concentrate...

Don't wan her smartness to go to waste just because of the lack of concentration in her life...
      I could feel you..

      1. You could try to break up longer activities into smaller ones and motivate her constantly. For instance, when it comes to work time, do a few sums and stop then slowly increase the duration. At the same time, you might want to play Baroque music when you are doing work with her.It will calm her down and improve her concentration.

2.Be firm with your decisions and be consistent with your actions.Such as establishing a well-regulated household and sticking with it.Routines which are never clear and too many uncontrolled stimuli will affect her even more.

You could try using these 2 methods first.it may not work within short term but it will definitely help in the long run šŸ™‚

    • RE: Comparing Math Enrichment Programmes

      Hello Moon3 and other mummies,

You could try out our school's soma math program. We are previously from Elan soma school at united square. We have decided to branch out on our own and renamed it as Mat + Lit school.

Our school offers math and literature program for kids between 3 to 12 years old. There are two different tracks for math program. We have MOE syllabus and Soma.

If your child has a strong and solid foundation in math, he/she could choose to take up Soma math.It is a course designed to promote critical analysis and thinking. The questions are based on math story sums related to daily life.It covers 6 major components of math( Numbers,Pattern,Logical reasoning..etc) to train their logical thinking too. There are various activities to invoke their thinking such as presentation, project work, quiz and games. It trains them to express their thinking clearer through these activities šŸ™‚
