Hi all, I a father of a 9 yrs old boy. Just wanna share me 2 cents. He reads a lot in my opinion. I can’t say I’ve got special tricks but I sent him to "I CAN READ" before his primary school. I think there’s when the habit starts. I also read him lots of bed time story then and buy him toys which has a book series like Thomas the train.


His a pretty advance reader now so I no longer read to him. But I will bring him to movies thats base on books like "Percy Jackson", "moral instruments" and "hunger games". There when he will chase down the story and read others that relevant or of same genre. He went through more than 80 books in the last two years. I’ve to confess he has read more books than my entire life…

I do keep devices to the minimal though. And I lead by example as I do not fiddle with phone unnecessarily. I don’t play phone games in front of him too. As we all know these things are very addictive and the moment their hook, it will be very difficult to take it away. I intend to restrict this till his older and can better self discipline and control.
