Is Cca compulsory, @ SST ?

Yes CCA is compulsory in SST.
During the orientation last year, the CCA head mentioned most of the new students he interviewed each year came from Infocom club in primary school. Hence I was very much worried which CCA my kid should join since he was doing coding in primary (coding is not a CCA in this school, it is like a subject). I was guided by some great parents from this group! You will be invited to try out different CCA to see which one suite you most just like in primary school.
For the student who wish to study History and Geography in Sec 1, yes the school offer both, and the kid very much enjoyed History.
For the parents with transport concerns, ricvon's information is correct, different CCA are conducted in different day, some sports has 2 session a week. My kid and his ex classmate in primary school was placed in different class and hardly able to go back home together. Earliest day school will end at 2.45, latest 6pm. If you have remedial may be 3.45pm. Most of kids in the class came from Pasir Ris or AMK but still can use public transport, they will get used after a while. Of cos it's best if you can arrange private bus for a group.

I found this thread since my boy just get the offer. Thank you for all parents for providing useful information. I think we will take the offer since this school is his first choice but we remind him to work hard for PSLE and treat this as a bonus. I will keep checking on this thread for next step. If your child is on waiting list, please don’t give up, my son has another 5 classmates all get to the 2nd round, I heard he got checked with three of them all get the offers, but some may have other DSA offer too. We are fm a neighborhood school in the west start with T. My kid is very excited to see his teammate at 2nd phase when school started.
