• RE: All About Violin Classes and Teachers

      zac's mum:
This is the link to the official website:

      https://www.singaporestring.com.sg/main/index.php

      Fees here:
      https://www.singaporestring.com.sg/fees/violin.php

The fees are quite pricey. So I won’t recommend it until the child is at least old enough to benefit from the 2 Masterclasses. The playing skill and experience should be around Grade 2 and the age/maturity level should be having longer attention span as well. MOE Primary 2 age is more suitable to start Masterclasses (maybe P1 if a girl and very focused on learning).

The Masterclass teachers know how to engage the young kids that’s true, but the child won’t reallt get much out of the feedback until he can really absorb the advice and take responsibility for his own learning.

A valuable and much appreciated experience for my kid and me!
Hi, Wow! Thanks and appreciated so much, will check it out soon.

Just sharing my friend's child experience, you can check it out and verify on that tutor with on your own. Fun learning experience to enhance the child's interest to make progress. The center is near Seng Kang as you seek for. Hope my recommendation, do help your child.

      Cheers!
Yes the kids are also allowed to attend the talks if they have no class for that timing. If your child is participating in SISC and has an ongoing class at the same time, then only the parent(s) can go for the talk.

Thanks very much for your reply. Today is my first time attending SISC and the program so far has been fantastic!

I’m very impressed by how the invited teachers know how to engage the very young kids and teach the techniques in such refreshing ways.

Was initially thinking of skipping the parent talks, but now I think I will sit in. Looks like gonna be very interesting too!

You are welcome! We have attended and enjoyed past SISCs very much and my kids are also participating this year. I find it very beneficial as they get more exposure to the different techniques and playing styles from the other teachers who are very established string musicians. They literally breathed violin for the 4 days. Hope your child will enjoy it as much! :)
Hi there,

How's the fees like ? can enlighten ?

      Thanks and much appreciated.

    • RE: Stalford Learning Center - Discussion

      2snoopy:
Hi all, can anyone share some feedbacks on the quality of the teachers and teching methods for pri3 and pri4 english, chinese, math and science from Stalford at Sengkang Compass One and Punggol Waterway Point comparison?

      Hi There,

Hope it's not too late for my post to reach you. I just registered to answer this query of yours after chancing upon your post and hope it helps. My close friend's daughter did her Pri 6 Science and English tuition with Stalford @ CompassOne Branch. Her recent PSLE grades for Science was A* and A for English. My friend was relieved that she did not withdraw her daughter totally from the branch after a bad experience with her previous Science tutor. The tutor was really bad on his coaching and her daughter was giving up with so many complaints on him and furthermore, she was not doing well with Science. My friend was so furious and approached the counter admin for withdrawal and they recommended her to transfer her daughter to another Senior experienced Tutor - Mr Albert. She reluctantly gave in to them after knowing the withdrawal terms and refund was a pain and troublesome. My friend who is a graduate did double up to coach her daughter for English and Math but Science is a totally different ball game for her and definitely need a pro to take control totally.

After her daughter joined the senior tutor, she responded positively and commented it was a completely different experience. Mr Albert was patient and would bother to go through all question on every worksheet and past year exam papers. Theory lessons with the revision notes conducted by him were interesting and with humor; making the class enjoyable. He was rather attentive to her daughter because of her bad experience with the previous tutor. He even cleared all unmarked worksheets and also furnished her with any missing notes from her previous class. My friend was glad that her child was happy with the new tutor. Her daughter then made a great improvement in SA1 and prelims examinations. For English, she was also taught by another experience English tutor - Ms Lenny since Pri 5. She had no problems with her all along.

However, upon all these successes gained by her daughter, they also faced problems with the customer service administrators as support was not really desirable, However, what matters was the dedicated teachers so they tolerated with it. So if you still need good tutors for Science and English, maybe you can check on above tutors mentioned. PSLE is a turning point for all child so I hope any worried parents can seek the correct educators for significant progress. I hope my post here will help ease helpless parents in seek of good tutors around. Do check on them too and only commit when you are sure .

All the best to all struggling weak Singapore students and the local high educational standards really torture the children hard.

      Cheers!
