      HopefulFather:
Hello, my son is in ACSI sec2 and has been called for 2nd interview for year 3 IP selection. why 2nd interview ? did any of your children go for 2nd interviews ? thanks a ton !

What average did your son got for his mid year? As far as I know, they only go for one interview unless its a borderline case between confirmed and probation.

      autolycus:
Actually, they zero in on English/Lit ability. The whole idea of the Yr2->Yr3 selection process is to find students who can do a 2x Lang, 2x Math, 2x Sc, 2x Humanities/Aesthetics (or 2x Lang, 2x Math, 3x Sc, 1x Hum/Aesthetics) combination in Year 3. If your son is doing well in History or Geog, Art is not a problem.

The 80% guideline is (IIRC) the third guideline after general academic potential (PSLE > 250 or HAST) and IB-type aggregate (see above). Like I said, don't worry. If he can't get in at this stage, it might be better for him to develop at his own pace. 🙂
Thank you autolycus, I understand that about 100 seats from Sec 2 Express will be selected for IP program into Sec3. I suppose 80% average and above academic performance requirement differs year on year. Any idea whats the lowest take in % on record for confirmed students and those on probation so far? How does it look this year?

I suppose those who scored around 70% will have absolutely no chance to be considered for Sec 3 IP?
      Thanks

      245 is for non-affiliated O level track. 253 is for non-affiliated IB/IP.

I am curious where does this 245 for non affilated comes from? Any kids from non affilated schools got in between 245 and 253 for O level? its something new to me.. I was asked a few times and I have no answer..

hmmm.. just wondering ..does ACS (I) take in students from non affiliated schools with cop 245 for O level? Can anyone confirm that?

We were informed only affilated schools at COP 235 and above are admitted for O level express..all non affiliated will come in at COP 253 for IP excluding DSA..?? :?

My son was 5 point short based on last years COP. We appealed immediately on the 25th stressing on his particular sports ability.. he was accepted today.. bring in any testimonial as supporting document.. it helps

      Hi, need your advise.
I thought appeal only starts when we know the outcome of the posting results when our choice is not selected?

There is no where written, that appeal can only be accepted after the postings. Of cos the school that you are appealing may ask you to come back after the posting. Reckon each school has its own unwritten rules. Think of ways to substantiate your appeal away from the crowd is key.

    • RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting

yes indeed we must also be realistic in regards to the COP. Its really pointless to opt for a school when you have absolutely no chance. So why are people appealing… a simple answer is to get into the best school possible with the existing results. So why the best school possible… a simple answer will be the bottom 50% of a better school may still be better than the top 50% of a lesser school… how to measure… National Examinations…PSLE is one of them to begin with…if there is a chance go for it… appeal cos you dont do it everyday…like what was said earlier… be sure to manage your other choices wisely…

    • RE: Shall I appeal to MOE to check PSLE results?

Well, after reading several threads and in particularly those on T score calculation… each subject is different and there is no standard was to what is the lowest score for A etc… reckon my sons T score is about right. Paying the ministry to return the same results without explaination is really a waste of talent. In any case we appealed to the school that he wanted as first choice and have gotten reply that he is accepted… so no more worries…

      Thank atutor2001, it's very clearly explained my question...do you know what the A*, A, B, C...score is?

If there is no change, the scores should be :

      A* > 91
      A 75 - 90
      B 60 - 74
      C 50 - 59
      D 35 - 49
      E 20 - 34
      U < 20

Hi, My son got A* for Maths, A for English and A for Science.. based on the worst case scenerio he should be getting 240, however he only returned a 230 by MOE. He is exempted from MT..

Need advise as to should I appeal ..becos the 10 pionts make a huge difference in school application.

      Thanks all

    • RE: Shall I appeal to MOE to check PSLE results?

A is from 75-90. A* is from 91 onwards. So 75 and 90 are both As’ but very far apart. I agree tt it’s likely low As. However, if this is bothering you, you can check with moe via the sch - some fees of around $48 to be paid.[/quote]

Yes indeed, if an A starts from 75 and A* from 91, I reckon he should be getting in the region from 235 onwards at the very least… not 230…
cos the 5-10 pts makes a big difference in the selection of schools. Dont wish to be penalised because of some MOE computation error and suffer the consequence.

Do I have to go back to his school to file the appeal?

      Thanks vm
