My friend's DD is in Y1 and has been chosen for UG which she did not like and want. However, she's taking it in her best stride and is now showing 'interest' in it, somehow by sharing it after each cca lesson. 😄

:rahrah: JY JY !
Hi! Good for 🙂 your dd ... mine is actually quite ok as she has made friends which is impt for her but her no.1 interest is still art-drawing so she prefers a club where she can expand her interest.

Hi to all,

May I know how can I appeal out of my cca...is there a form or via cedar website, can't seem to find anything there? 🤷

Hi !

My girl just got into guides, her forth choice so she is disappointed. Is anyone here in guides?
1)Do they have to stay more than the required wed and fri meetings? Extra camps and stuff?
2)Does guides help earn cca points easily?
3)Are CIP hours built into guides?..just so she can fulfill fewer cip hours.

Thank you!

National youth achievement award. You can go to their website for more information. Basically there's bronze, silver and gold, and in order to attain the respective awards, you need to fulfill certain requirements.

Hi Bluebelt,
a BIG thanks for the detailed information. I will show your reply to my dd and digest this together! 😄

 Hi Twilight,
I am such a muddlehead, I meant to thank you but instead I thanked your status...lol!
There is also Cip and enrichment programme which contributes to the cca grade. Track girls hardly hv a problem with cca grade. Don't worry.

There is plenty of leadership opportunities in cedar. It is not only for the prefects.
As in other subjects, one needs to put in hard work to get distinction, so same for cca grade. Some sacrifice is needed also.
Google cca points computation. There is a sample document detailing how points are calculated.
By the end of the second year, my dd had hit 20 over pts.

Wow, which CCA is she in? Does it mean once you reach 20 above points, you can relax and 'pontang' CCA?

Hahaha .... That was what i asked last time .... But like what you said earlier, they hv to attend every year with attendance 75%. Just that after she hit 20+, she didn't need to work so hard for cip. She is in uniform group.
Hmm...., what about taking MSP, does that contribute to the 2 pts also. If so, can my dd relax in cca and cip. Man, I am confused with all this bonus point thingy. 🤷

Thanks a lot, zeemini for the relevant info!

May I know how does the CCA point work for the 'O' level result? How does I acccumulate the CCA points?

Hi daranic,
What a timely question, I am also wondering. Are CCA and CIP hours very important? Do the clubs and societies in cedar allow students gain good enough points?

Thanks!

Hi!!!

It’s so nice to hear that many of you enjoyed the S1 orientation…unfortunately my daughter was unwell and she had to give the orientation a miss. She was so disappointed but thank God she has recovered.
I am wondering if your daughters were given any letter or information on:
1) what to bring on the first day of school
2) where to report to
3) what time will school be dismissed
4) anything else?

By the way we will be travelling via aljunied mrt and bus service 100, may I assume that we will meet many fellow cedarians and will not feel so lonely in the mornings?

Will the side gate be opened?

Gladly appreciate your replies…Thanks again!

Hi fellow Cedarians,

Yes I am a newbie to CGS...looking forward to the orientation. By the way, may I know what are the school hours like...at least next Wednesday, what time will school end? Are there still early days of school dismissal at 1.45pm?

Ummm...please bear with me for more questions, sorry:
1) Which ccas are twice a week and which ones are once?
2) Are there any house practice days too?
3) Are house practices also for non competitors?
4) When is sports day?
5) CIP involvement, are they usually during school terms or holidays?

Thank you and see you soon!!!

Hey there 🙂 ! This year, for lower secondary, if I'm not wrong, mondays and tuesdays are until 1.35pm, thursdays and fridays are until 3.15pm. Assemblies are usually held on wednesdays, the last period, so it depends. If there's assembly, it ends at 3.15pm, if there isn't, school ends at 1.35pm.

1) Majority of ccas are twice a week except for sports, choir etc which require more training. By right, NPCC and NCC has training once a week but it's usually for very long hours and most of the time, they have extra trainings.
2) I'm assuming house means the different houses for sports day, and no, there's usually no practice unless it's for cheerleading which i think is being cancelled due to the amount of injuries the cheerleaders sustain.
3) No, there's no house practices for non competitors.
4) Sports day usually falls somewhere in July/August.
5) Depending on your cca, some ccas have many opportunities for CIP but you have to find the CIP to do yourself. It can fall in school holidays and during school terms also.

Hi Individualist,

:thankyou: SO SO MUCH for your time to give me such a detailed answer!!! Really appreciate your patience. 😄
