    • RE: Dunman High School (Junior High)

      Hi,

I am a Year 1 parent and just sent an email to DHS as regards to the insufficient time allotted to 3rd Language students on Thursdays for lunch. I understand that 3rd Language students are allowed to eat on the bus to the Bishan language centre but I feel that this is insufficient.

If you feel the same way as I do and also have year 1 children taking 3rd Language classes in Bishan, please write in to DHS and provide your feedback and ask for a proper lunch break.

      Thanks.

      Mike

May I know does all the CCA at school sure will get -2 points for O level is attended more than 75%?

      Thanks.

I would like to know how to get 2 points too. My friend said uniform group easy to get 2 points than other cca. Is it true?

What I understand from DD is that UG are easier to obtain points under leadership component of LEAPS. I need to ask her again to understand more as DD is not in UG.

Is there any bus to nearest circle line mrt station?

Think you can try Bus 158. It should stop near Mountbatten. However, my DD prefers to walk to MB station. only about 10 to 15 min.

What is the 2015 olevel result for Edgefield?

According to my DD, Edgefield did very well in Maths but not so good in English. I did not bother asking more as she is in Sec 3. I worry abt it when she is in Sec 4. LOL.

      What change ?

I think the above post was referring to the MOE policy of allowing appeals when it meets the COP instead of leaving it to the schs' discretion.

This MOE decision totally caught everyone by surprise and is unfair to this current batch of primary six students 2015. We want an explanation and a remedial solution.

Here's my take. I thought this ruling is extremely fair to the current batch of students and probably one of the most gutsy (and best) decision ever.

Everyone should stop thinking that there's an appeal system because there isn't. The only one system recognized by the MOE is called S1 posting and the appeal system is a goodwill gesture that has no formalized system, nor is it even part of the approved system saved for a few exceptions. All these talk about shifting goalpost is nonsense. How can you shift a goalpost when there isn't one in the first place? So, why would anyone be caught by surprise when there's no surprise to begin with?

Those who insist on appealing their way through or insist that the school listen to their appeal despite falling short of their COP should take a hard look at themselves and not at the school or MOE for an answer. The school is under no obligation in the past nor in the present, so there isn't a point in arguing that \"how come last time can, now cannot\". The answer to that is best summarized in the following: 警察以前穿短裤.

Those asking MOE to review this directive should offer an explanation to the rest of the students, who are not appealing, on why they should respect the S1 posting exercise. If talking about fairness, it's only unfair to those who have decided to respect the outcome of the posting exercise. Appealents who have fallen short of the COP may think that they are talking about fairness (when discussing this directive) but it sounds to me that they are only asking for an unfair advantage for themselves over the rest.

I can only agree with you 100%.[/quote]I am re-quoting the above again as I feel that the points made above are all true and fair. You already have 6 choices and you still want a 7th ??? My daughter got into the school she wanted without an appeal and if her results cannot cut it then we have to adjust accordingly. This is life. I agree 110% with all of the above.... :goodpost:
