Before he start p1 , we have informed the Pri sch and pass all document (SLT report/IQ test) so sch has make necessary modified to help him cope. At the same time , he does still need therapy session. But honestly the p1 standard is very high now , got a shock when I saw the hme work

Hopeforbest:
Pls continue to find CC / preschool / playgroup for your child. Don't be discourage. usually the presch/CC will assess the child to see if they can cope in term of safety (if child not yet/unstable in walking) and ratio as well. some are really to have the child to try out 1st , some reject straight . I have seen a number of kids with asd / gdd/ DS attending preschool n CC. so continue to look for it and you can actually ask the social worker in rainbow school to help as wellDear Parents,
I am glad to find this group chat. My girl have GDD and attending Rainbow EIPIC for 9 month. The teacher suggest we add on childcare so that she have can have more time mingle with kids (only child at home). I have visited a few childcare centre, but get instance reject even I told them mild delay. Does any parents come across any CC that around Punggol or sembawang area that accept GDD kids.
Or other than Childcare, is there any other option on daily basis (school - longer duration) to help her improve. EIPIC 2 hours program seem too short. I did explore ICCP, but heard long waiting lists.

Hi
What kind of school support or assistance are available for GDD child when in mainstream primary school.
Beside defer entering P1 is, there anything else, we can help the child to make improvements.
Can GDD be cured over time.
GDD can be improve.. we just need continue to work with them
, whatever resources we have for them.
Is your child still very young? having intervention/ therapy sessions will help and improve

you could continue to use object 1st and the nx level you could use photo of the object instead of abstract symbol card.Hi
I have a 2.5 years he don't seemed to understand verbal instructions well. I showed him the abstract symbol card he don't understand.
Then I shown him real object eg his shoes to tell him wear shoes.
How can I better communicate with him so that he understand or how should I communicate with him.
I would recommend using PECs to help your child to communicate . I think kkh shld have workshop on it

Hi april_tingHi parents,
Glad that i found this forum =)my son (22mths)has been diagnosed with GDD and the doc suggest that i enrol him into one of the EIPIC centers. I understand that the session is between 2-3hrs, does anyone of you send your kid to a mainstream childcare after the session?
I have a child gdd/speech delayed and also a special need teacher as well.
In my school, there are quite a number of students who are dual schooling. It will take awhile for the child to get use to the timing and routine .
For my own child, he will attend CC in the morning and afternoon go EIPIC , it take 1 term for my boy to get use to it...
I hope the info is helpful...

HiHi
Does GDD child might have social skills issues? Eg don't know how to interact with peers appropriately? Or basically GDD is just slower to reach milestones.
sometime for a child with GDD, he/she might take a longer time to learn how to interact with peers / interact appropriately.
My boy was diagnosed with speech delayed last time. when he was 3 year old, childcare teacher always feedback he only play alone / play beside with others but no interaction. Now he is 6 years old, he could actually develop friendship with peers - has a best friend in school.
I guess they just need a bit more time than typical kids..:) -

Any parents with GDD kids in mainstream schools? Cos my daughter is now in mainstream school, want to know how to see if she is suited for mainstream school or not?
Hi I would like to find out more as well.
My boy is diagnosed with speech delayed but we went for an IQ test recently and find out he scored below avg. The psychologist also did school readiness for him, suggested he could actually go to pri sch next year, don't need to defer him. The doctor will write a letter to school to get allied educator to support him.
Im still alittle worried. If any parents has similar experience can share how child is coping and what can we as parents do to prepare them ..
Thank u :hugs:
