To answer your question and the previous one on whether it is safe for P2c, I would say typically within 1km still need balloting. For enrollment in 2018, there is still time for you to do parent volunteer for SQ, which starts in June this year. Just download the form from their school website and sign up. They seem to have gotten quite picky for PV over the years, but you can try your luck still. P2b is a pretty safe phase to ensure a place for your child, and a good way to get to know the school and its teachers.

For student care, it is too early. SQ does have a in house student care but it caters mainly to students from low income families. I have heard feedback from current batch of P1 parents that the student care at Blk 504 is not bad, so you may want to keep it in mind till then.

In the meantime to prepare your child for school, I suggest you get him started on sight words and hanyu pinyu. Hope my info helps.

Text book simplified the whole syllabus but when it comes to exam papers and worksheets, one cannot find any examples in Text book to teach the kid how to tackle the qns. I think the only thing parents can do is to write in with our feedback. I'm not sure which schools came up with that problem sum or comprehension. It is my understanding that some schools (usually popular ones) will come up with tougher than usual questions than others.

Rulang for one, I understood teaches or want their students to be able to do heuristic math problems (that one could be an example??) Nan Hua is another which I understood to have very high expectations on student's homework. I heard from my SIL whose son is in Nan Hua that he is required to read 50 storybooks per term / semester and required to write summaries as well as his own thoughts and feelings on each one, and submit via the internet/intranet?

sorry this is quite funny. Makes me wonder if the teacher or tutor who drafted this exercise was venting his/her frustration as a parent or a student who had been there done that...

I think as a parent, we all just want to do our best for our kids. If no $$ to shift from jurong east to bukit timah, at least try to shift somewhere nearer where it is easier to commute for your child. That said, I am aware there are a lot of popular schools in bukit timah, but sending your child to a popular does not equate success in the future.

as adults, daily commuting takes a toll on us, let alone a child. What if this affects their studies? sending them to a popular school will backfire then, if they are unable to keep up with their peers.

Can any1 help me? I'm staying at woodlands crescent and new to p1 registration. We will be at phrase 2c. Any1 can recommend any good school for us? My hubby used to study at south view primary school and my primary school have closed down so we didnt know which school are good for our son and we are under phrase 2c so quite difficult for us to get in not bad school in woodlands area.
