    • RE: Travel: Korea - General

I prefer to use google maps at Seoul as it has real time updates so I can constantly check if I am going in the correction direction.

As for myeongdong, I usually use CGV as my guide on how to move around as CGV is the few shops that are in English on the map.
CGV/Uniqlo is the middle lane and the only place I understand on the map. I use it the center of my navigation. Using starbucks is not good as there is more than one

If you are going Myeongdong, exit 7 is the one with the escalator, but you have to walk through a row of shops.

    • RE: All About Getting Help for Students Weak in Math

It is not about practicing a lot, is understanding.

If you practice a lot and just memorise without understanding, the best grade for O level Mathematics is just A2 and usually it will be a B.

My students told me stories of uncles and aunties who advice my students to do their TYS five times or more.

Two reasons why it would not work is TYS is really ten years series nowadays, in the past it was twenty years of papers to do. Secondly, they are encouraging kids to think so they do not repeat the same stuff that much. I did my TYS once but I make sure I understand what I am doing, and no matter how they change the question, I can do it. I scored an A1.

Giving tons of homework will make the student lose interest in the subject, give them homework and maybe some extra practice for them to do it if they want to. If you give a few questions, there is a higher chance they will do the few questions and put in efforts.

Reasons for tutors is children can’t learn in school due to environment or teachers . tutors provide summaries and short cuts as they are focusing on the subjects. Some children feel awkward asking questions in school. Some children just need someone, like a good friend plus tutor to chat and study with them. Some children need a strict tutor who will drill the concepts into them. Some children need to do things repetitively to remember. Some children get bored easily so they cant do repetitively. Some Children need everything in proper presentation and step by step to understand. Some children want to learn the shortcut and feel happy if they can do things faster than other children. Some do not need a tutor because they prefer to figure things out themselves, some need a strict tutor, some need a friendly tutor which they can look up to.Different children need different method so a lot of effort have to put into understanding the child before deciding which is the best method.

    • RE: Normal Academic (NA) course

From my perspective, some of my students tend to excel in Normal Academic so the standard is not that high and they gain confidence. They start to gain interest in their studies and they work harder and do much better.

Putting them in the express sometimes will make them feel inferior and sometimes they lose confidence and interest.

Some school allowed Normal academic students to take up to 3 O level subjects at their Secondary 4N year and when they are at Secondary 5, they can drop the subject if they did well enough which means more time for other weaker subjects or they can have another shot at the subject and a better grade.

There are good NA classes who have good students who want to do well and has good class environment. There are some students in some bad Express classes, can’t even make it to ITE.

So don’t worry if your child is in Normal Academic, it maybe a blessing in disguise.

Even if it is a longer route, most important is they do well for O level and they are happy.

I don’t remember which app I used but You can download apps to plan your journey.

Sometimes you need to transfer more than once for the subway lines and it gets a bit confusing.
So you just key in starting and ending train station and they will suggest the subway lines to take and time required.

      Thanks for the compliment

I agreed we are a bit paranoid.
Because just 3 girls travelling… hearing real life stories encounter are scary.

my sister’s friends was confronted and blocked by a guy who insist she pay them for something or etc. She is not wearing anything branded or flashy.
Luckily, her reaction is fast and she ran into a group of local students and the guy gave up chase…

even if you are taking the train, don't leave it at the seat beside you.

My friend's friend lost her whole bag on the train.
Tend to doze off on long train rides but we take turns to sleep or we just hug our bags to sleep.

I was so freaked out by the rumors.
We just view effiel tower from afar instead of going to the effiel tower 😂
We went Primtemps, walking tour and even a boat ride. We have quite a good view of effiel
