Hi, my kid is in P5 and has never gone thru any MO training. Last year, he joined the NMOS and got a bronze. Not sure if it’s too late to have proper training for MO now to see what he can achieve by next year. Any recommendations for MO training centre in AMK, Bishan, Novena area? Thanks!

She’s a usual AL2 or AL3. What about yours?
May i ask what’s your child’s usual result for science? My girl also said it’s not that straight forward probably the toughest as well -

Mine found science difficult (for both booklets). The toughest of the 4 subjects.

Hi, my child always writes out of topic or score very low for her content for her English paper 1 compo. Any advice on how I can specifically help her in this area? Thank you!

Hi, anyone know of any recommended PSLE 3 or 10 year series? So many types in popular bookstore so not too sure which are the better ones. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing! He understands the focus is on CL but he wants to continue with HCL so hopefully his SA2 results will support it. Yes, we r relaxing after the last paper today!
Suggest you can further breakdown his overall AL4, 5 into the various components to understand his stronger and weaker parts.
For CL, if kid is talkative, can start preparing his oral, read out loud Chinese passages, text for oral or materials given by sch in p4, p5. Oral weightage is high in CL.
Not sure if this is true for every sch, but the teachers teaching hcl in school are usually the better teachers. If you alr know who they are, you will know if teachers style fit your ds learning. For eg, if teacher speaks more in class, allows kids to learn through listening, fit some kids. Teachers who keep doing practice papers and kids mark their own exercises, do not fit these same kids. This style fits top kids well, kids who are exam moulded, I believe but stands corrected.
Share about a boy I know.
CL was ard AL4, 5 in p5. Hcl was often borderline or fail. Got a hcl teacher in p6 who talked a lot in class, until her voice often sounded sore. She is bilingual and explained the meaning of Chinese phrases in English when students asked. Very engaging and students enjoyed Chinese lessons. Gave materials for oral which parents practised at home with boy from June.
Parents can tell hcl is too far fetched for the boy, told boy to study for CL, no need to stress over hcl. Boy told parents he felt liberated after dropping hcl mentally. Didnt drop hcl registration though, just go for lessons and focus on oral. but he liked the hcl teacher so much, he will not let her down, so continue hcl lessons. After psle Sci paper, he told parents, he would sprint for the finishing line for Hcl paper, for the sake of his hcl teacher.
He scored AL3 for CL in PSLE. Passed hcl! All without tuition. I think, not having the stress from hcl helped him in CL. He decided not to take hcl in sec sch although he qualified. Not sure if he fully understands the 2 bonus points implication. But we know this boy is not interested in Chinese.
I believe, CL unlike Eng, can be studied for exam. All within scope of textbook. Keep practising tingxie which this boy did with all his might. But to note, that boy is very vocal and opinionated. So we think oral really helped him, still the case in sec 1.
Good luck to your boy's PSLE journey. Don't forget to pause to re charge, enjoy the great bonding time with him along the way. Sec sch is a totally different ball game for child and parents.

Thank u
I would follow the school's advice. ie if the school/teacher deem your child suitable to take Higher Chinese, just continue to take.
