Did you teach your child what to do if Sgp MRT is on fire?
Seeing this video where 15 are injured in Hong Kong MTR fire. Sad that people are more concern with taking video when others are on fire.

RE: How much is your maid levy this month?
FantasyLandDreams:
Same here. Hmmm .... Why still $120??
Precisely.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Budget 2015: Help for familiesThe foreign domestic worker concessionary levy will be halved to S$60 from May, to help families with elderly folk and young children.
Among the various measures, the Government will halve the foreign domestic worker concessionary levy - from the current S$120 to S$60 - to help families who are taking care of the elderly, from May 1.
The concessionary levy will also be extended to households with children aged below 16 - up from below 12. The annual savings from the reduced levy amount to S$720 a year.

RE: Cost of part-time helper is doubled the cost of live-in one?
“Having a housekeeper come in just twice a week, for the minimum required period of four hours each time, would likely cost us more than $600 a month.”
This means market rate is $75 for 4-hour work?
Any one read today’s Sunday Times where Fiona Chan wrote an article on the above. Reproduced part of it here:

Angst over hiring a helper
I did not want to get a maid until I realised engaging a cleaning service is double the cost of a full-time helper
.Published on May 3, 2015
When I checked the rates for part-time house cleaning, however, I was nearly tempted to switch jobs and become a cleaner myself.
Having a housekeeper come in just twice a week, for the minimum required period of four hours each time, would likely cost us more than $600 a month.
We would still have to clean up after our very messy cats and ourselves the other five days of the week, not to mention have to eat out most of the time.
Alternatively, we could order a daily food delivery service, which would send us hot dinners every weekday for at least $200 a month.
With children, the cost would jump further - full-time infantcare costs as much as $2,000 a month, of which the Government subsidises up to $600.
Compared with that, live-in maids who do it all - cook, clean and take care of their employers’ kids - are a downright bargain. -
RE: 2014 A Level Results
When NJC was set up in the late 60s, it was the only JC. It was the top school for A levels in Singapore then, as all the top students from all the schools in Singapore flocked there.
HCJC (HCI now) was set up in the 70s, it soon overtook NJC as the top JC in S’pore. Even top RI and RGS students will go there.
TJC was later set up and the 3 top JCs in S’pore were HCJC, NJC and TJC.
RJC was set up in the early 80s. It was still behnd the top 3 JCs then. Later, it surpassed all the rest and it became the top JC. There were a no of years when it tussled with HCJC for the top JC.
VJC and AJC were set up a few years after RJC. There were also some years when VJC surpassed RJC and HCJC and became the top JC.
But for more than 20 years, the top 5 JCs have basically been: RI (JC), HCI (JC), VJC, NJC, TJC. AJC was always 6th.
In recent years, two JCs which used to be “dumping ground” have came up very strongly: ACJC and NYJC. AJC is no longer 6th for a no of years now. And it seem like TJC has also been kicked out of the top 5. -

Didn't do a formal contract but started a fresh sheet for 2-year term for her to acknowledge receipt of new monthly salary. We did a formal contract only when we needed to renew her passport.
Is it more beneficial to employers to have a contract?
