JY is one of the 22 secondary schools offering Computer Studies as an O level school-initiated electives. The school has other initiative like using mobile phone in class for e-Learning, currently rollout for Science only.

There is also a café run by students, whose parents are working, and have no where to go after school hour. From here, they learn how to run a business, accountings, teamwork, etc.

The school is also setting up an interactive learning wall with 4 big LED screens to keep students updated with the current news affair. This is to cater for students who hardly read newspaper at home.

There is also a small studio with different musical instruments for students to learn, play and relax after school hours.

All these are some of the non-core curriculums that attracted me.

Visited Tampines Secondary this afternoon. The school building and facilities are very new and nice. This school is one of my choice too. Any infor to share for this school?

Thanks mlsa0808, for the info! Didnt know that the schools are open for visit on weekdays too? Hence, not sure about Tampines Sec but based on the grey booklet, they do not offer much subjects and if you visit their website, you cant find much info either. School may look and feel new though, cos of the recent upgrade/reno. JY really sounds attractive from the way you described. As for ES, we often see students smoking around the void decks but then again, i think all schools have smokers. So, disciplinary aspects of the schools is abit concern here. What do you think?

You can walk in anytime between 8am to 5pm, Mon to Fri.
My friend is teaching at ES. According to him discipline is strict within the school. Out of the school, they cant control.
Need advice on the school selection for score of 212+1HCL.

My choice as below :
1. Bedok South Secondary (L215, M218, H231)
2. East Spring Secondary (L211, M215, H237)
3. Junyuan Secondary (L203, M207, H237)
4. Manjusri Secondry (L205, M212, H230)
5. Tampines Secondary (L207, M210, H228)
6. Damai Secondary (L205, M208, H230)

Hope to get into my 1st choice as the school is nestled in a landed property environment. A lot of greeneries, big school field, etc. But my score is 2 points below.

Between 2 & 3, prefer Junyuan environment and the curriculum provided. Put East Spring as 2nd choice due to high COP but the school is quite old.

Any comments for my choices?

Thank you.

Need urgent advice on my selection above. Thank you.

You can't use HCL for your choices. It's fine to place Bedok South as the 1st choice. However, if you meet the COP of East Spring, you will be admitted there as your choice indicates a preference for it over Junyuan.
Thank you vm for the advice.

Just curious, for schools with affiliation, they will take in students with lower COP. Does that mean the actual medium score is actually much lower? Eg Manjusri Secondary, you just need 188 for affiliation to get in.

Visited East Spring on Saturday and Junyuan yesterday.

Though COP for JY (205) is lower than ES (211), but curriculum provided by JY has more varieties. School ambience for JY is nicer and bigger as compared to ES.

Should I go for school with higher COP, ie ES or school with a nice ambience that I like to spend in the next 4 years, i.e. JY?
