      Original Title: Adv: Autism suspected

      Hi,

I happen to bring my son to a friend's house. They have 2 children about the same age with my son. His behaviour catch the attention of my friend's who is a playgroup teacher, he ask me if I have suspected that my son have Autism. My son don't seem to be interested to play with other children, and there is some delay in speech.

I started to read up articles and research in the internet, and it worry me more. When I see that there are a few signs of Autism.

Here are some signs to look for in the children in your life:
Lack of or delay in spoken language
Repetitive use of language and/or motor mannerisms (e.g., hand-flapping, twirling objects)
      Little or no eye contact
Lack of interest in peer relationships
Lack of spontaneous or make-believe play
Persistent fixation on parts of objects

Is there any parent who have ever had this experience to share?

My nephew's exactly like how you described, it got us all (espcially my sister) so worried she began losing so much sleep over it. But we brought him to a specialist and no, the doctor didn't think it was autism, simply dismissed it as slower development. He's about 3+ now, but still can't speak properly. His 's'es particularly cannot be pronounced. And he's v bad with people. Hope he improves soon. šŸ˜• I can imagine how you feel.

Dancing's great, it keeps the muffins off the hips!!! And definitely a wonderful time to socialize as well. I always dedicate time for hanging out with my girlfriends and head out for some drinks to relax and dance the stress from work and kids off. And I do some fun-dancing with the hubs too, always end up falling over each other in laughter! šŸ™‚ Great bonding and effective in keeping the love going as well.

    • RE: Club Breadmakers

How timely! I was just gonna get a bread making machine! I've heard how easy it is! Told the kids about the idea, and they went wild. Started giving me all sorts of crazy flavours that they'd like. I'm gonna begin with banana nut šŸ™‚ I wonder how long the bread will last though, would be such a waste if it went bad fast.

Eat, pray, love- just completed the book. Enjoyed it thoroughly! Nothing too heavy, but enjoyable nonetheless. Did take a long time though, as I've been kept so busy lately. Reminder to mommas- always have time for yourselves, head to a quaint little cafe, do some quiet reading, grab a cuppa coffee, just soak in alone time for a bit šŸ™‚ before it's back to (happy) noise at home šŸ™‚

I'm incredibly career driven, so definitely a full-time working mom. My kids are generally well-behaved. And I've got a helper so it definitely works, she sends them to their tuition/enrichment classes. But weekends are certainly time for family šŸ™‚

I love doing portraits. šŸ™‚ I've recently ventured into child photography, it's so much fun! I brought my kids to botanic gardens- an amazing place to shoot with the kids. Big spaces to run around in, lots of greenery, bright sun. Just be careful of the ponds!

No regrets breastfeeding, AT ALL! All moms should certainly do it- much healthier for the kid since breast milk's got all the necessary nutrients. Plus it's a lot more economical, heh. šŸ™‚ If work is an issue, there's always the pump!
