    • RE: Home piano lesson

      Hi,

My son is 9 yrs old has just completed his grade 3 theory exam. He started playing piano at the age of 4. He has not attended any practical exam before.

When we signed him up for piano, his teacher did ask us do we want him to have music as his subject when he is pri 5 or just want him to learn music? So after some consideration, we thought is good for him to have music as an additional subject. All went well, his theory is good, scoring distinction but I feel his practical is not up to standard. Till now he is still playing children song, when I throw him a new music score he can’t play at all.

When me and my hubby having discussion on changing teacher, we end up heat argument. His mentally is you can’t have the best of both world, either is theory first then later practical or vice versa as his see his friend son can play the piano very well (playing those classical music but has zero knowledge on theory). Is this true? one unable to play well in the same time good at theory. As I said my son learn piano at the age at 4 but still can’t play very well even those children song, he still make mistake when playing.

Can mummies here please advise is this a norm or should I change teacher. Currently my son is still comfortable with his piano teacher.

Oh another question, do you explore your children to concert? If so, how do you go about it?

    • RE: Endeavour Primary

I did check with the form teacher on why my son has to go to last few class as I feel that his result was rather good. Since A and B class he is unable to go in, at least he should be able to go in C class but why even C class he can’t even get in? Her reply was there will not be any difference in C or F Class. But… there will be an impact on my child. My MIL has been ‘criticising’ my son - Saying he is lousy that’s why he has go to last few class. My son’s friend too ‘laughed’ at him. Imagine the hurt he has… the efforts that he put in, is like gone down to the drain…

I am also puzzled on how the system works. My son level position is below 60 n had a total score of more than 260 and yet he is placed in last few class. I find it hard to accept.

      Hi Kerbaya,

when did you register for PV 1 year before or 2 years before? Do you need to go for interview?

Also do you have to call the school to get the form or can download from the website?

      Hi Mommies,

Did you actually do Voluntary work in order to take a place?

Is the application full for last year?
