RGS parents - is there lot of traffic jam during the morning near by school for drop off?

It is quite similar to most schools. In the past, it took around 10 minutes to reach the drop-off point starting from SPH. However, after LTA installed a new traffic light before Braddell Hill, the traffic flow became worse. It took much longer to get out from the school. At a later stage, I just dropped my girl off at the opposite HDB block, and she walked to school herself.

For the first two weeks, the traffic will be horrible as there are many new parents who are not familiar with the traffic flow.

      Hi!
My daughter is entering sec 1 next year and I ordered to pick up the books on the booklist fr the school bookshop next week.
However I can’t find any info on rgs website or casco website regarding rgs bookshop opening hours.
Would any parents know if it’s still opened in the afternoons and till what time?
      Thanks in advance!

You can just call up the school and check with the school admin. They will be able to help you.

😂 I read about NYGH passing criteria and I freaked out. I didn’t research about the passing criteria in RGS before submitting the school application. So I was kind of worried rgs passing criteria is as stringent as NYGH. Quite relieved now. I mean i know all the girls will have higher expectations than just pass and obviously I won’t want my girl to just aim for 50%. I just want to have an assurance that my girl will have space to breathe; aim for reasonable score and not be bogged down by academics achievement throughout the years.

May I know the passing rate is for overall or must pass every subject? I know some schools passing criteria is overall score; some schools are specifically for all subjects.
Computation of the Grade Point Average:

Students will have their Grade Point Average (GPA) computed based on the average of the Grade Points of 5 Core Subjects and the highest-Grade Point of 1 Subject which may be an Elective or Subject which was not used in the computation of the Core Subjects – Core 5 Best 1.

      Years 1 & 2
      1. English Language
      2. Mother tongue or Higher Mother Tongue
      3. Mathematics
      4. Science
      5. Humanities (English Literature / Geography / History)

I remember 3rd language can be used to replace the humanities GPA if the 3rd lang score is better than Lit/Geo/Hist.
You can confirm with the school on this during the reporting day.

Oh wow! 🤩 I feel assured now. Thank you for sharing!
FYI - most of the girls have high expectation of themselves and aim better than GPA2.0 😁

Passing shouldn’t be a problem for majority of them.

Hello parents! I have a couple of questions..
My daughter was in RGS, going to Year 5 next year.

When do we normally get info on RI? Referring to info like 1st day of school, books n uniform purchase?

When will the school give us the login info to Stamford RI portal?

When can we start applying for MOE ISB?

I sent an email to the school but no one replied. Calls to the school also went unanswered. 😞

      Thanks!
For uniform you can get it from these two vendors In-Trend Uniforms and Finest Fashion Center (PE Attire).
Note: These are two separate vendors - one selling only uniforms and the other one for PE attire.
      https://www.ri.edu.sg/school-life/uniform-and-books

Books purchase - I'm not sure too, my girl didn't mention anything yet. 😄
1st day of school: 15 Jan 2024. (I guess it is like orientation)

RI portal login: Same here, I have no info. yet.

I think you should start buying the uniform, PE shirt, House shirt and RI shirt (Black) before the release of S1 posting result is out. Please make sure your daughter try on the uniform size because it is not 100% accurate based on the label.

Wish you and your girl a Happy Yearend Holiday.

I see haha I’m just trying my luck here. Is your girl enjoying your journey in rgs so far ?
For the first two years, it's a transitional phase for her, marked by adapting to a new environment that includes self-directed learning and managing lot of emails for all school-related activities. It also involves experiencing newfound freedom, making new friends, and engaging in new competitions.

As you know, all the girls are exceptionally brilliant, smart, hardworking and some are competitive. Hence she has to learn how to keep pace with it and not get overly stressed up by the pressure. Additionally, considering they are in their teenage years, puberty may impact their emotions. Therefore, as parents, we must help them manage these challenges and offer support when they need it.

I would recommend parents to attend the sharing sessions organized by the school to learn how to help and support your girl in these journey. There are good insightful sessions like -

      1. Cyber wellness for your child.
      2. Guideline for School-Home partnership.
      3. My independent learner.
      4. Mental well-being resource guide for PSGs.

Overall she enjoyed her RGS's journey, especially in Y3 and Y4. We can see a big change in her.

Ok noted thanks ! Most ccas 2 days a week? Any CCA once a week 😛
Most CCAs are two days and will be three days during FYSC year. I don’t think there is any CCa conducted once a day.

Thanks so much it is very much appreciated

Last year - most of the time my girl wore pinafore twice a week and culotte + house shirt three times a week.. (Tues, Thurs and Friday)

Btw, Tues and Thurs is CCA.

However, next year with new principal onboard, not sure if they will still the same practice or not.

Can I check how many days do the girls need to wear pinafore and how many days culotte per week please ?
      from the student handbook:

      • Wear pinafore and bring along her tie on days with hall assembly (typically on Monday or Tuesday)
      • Wear pinafore and blouse on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
      • Wear pinafore/ culottes & PE shirt/ RGS Standardised Green Black White (GBW) Shirt /House T-shirts on
      Wednesday and Friday.
      • Wear pinafore with white shirt or PE shirt only. PE shirts are allowed to be worn underneath the pinafore till the
end of the PE block, latest being 3rd block.

The school may adjust these requirements If the weather turn very warm. Like wearing pinafore twice a week at most.

      hope this helps.
