For RI Leadership will require Personal statement (personal difficulty or a challenge you faced as a group member), how do I guide my child into writing or starting? Do we need to include introduction on his current roles? believes, strengths? as well, or it will be off topic?

For applying to DSA (Victoria) school, your son no need to study any P6 HCL.

But if he enter into this school successfully, whether by DSA or by AL score,
if he is a Sec 1 IP student,
      then Yes,
HCL is compulsory, from Sec 1 onwards.

If you are looking for Victoria school Cca timetable, can google for this on school website. Because different type of Cca : different number of days of training (practise), required. No standardized one fixed rule, for so many different type of Cca, available in Victoria school.

I copied this over, from the 2023 DSA thread :-

      MotherHere,

      You refering to Catholic High,
      DSA Sports domain ?

      Under the option,
ask your son to click <No Preference>.

      1)

if your son has been short-listed, after attended CHS interview, the panel of DSA decision makers will then make a decision.

Assuming that your son is offered either a CO or Wait-list, CHS will decide whether to put him into IP or O-level track, after careful evaluation.

      2)
Don't worry about your P6 son's school exam AL 10.

      During interview,
the panel of DSA interviewers will look at the name of his primary school. From there, they will know the standard of his primary school, and where his AL 10, actually stand.

      3)
In the event if your son is offered O-level track DSA instead of IP, your question was :-

can your son then request for a transfer into IP, assuming that his PSLE results released in Nov 2023, actually qualify him for Catholic High (IP) admission ?

      The answer is,
If this incident were to happen, and if you have already accepted the DSA offer (for O-level track), u can proceed to appeal.

But, whether there still exist vacancies for your son to transfer into IP, or not, that will depend on

who else (other P6 students), apart from your son, are also appealing concurrently for the same thing. Hence, No guarantee.

      However,
      at end of Sec 2,
CHS definitely welcome O-level track students to switch over, transfer into IP, if they are still interested in IP, two years' later.
      Thanks for sharing.

May I check should we put IP only, will there still be chance where they will inform that they reject IP but will offer O level?

For 4) it will depend on if sch has any more vacancy and how many dsa and appeal students applied for them. No guarantee.

For 2), it also depends on how highly in demand or highly ranked is this dsa student in the sport.

Is the child more keen on the sch or IP?
Mainly keen on IP, but also likes his sports so don't mind to use sports DSA but wants to go to IP track.
But dilemma as should he be offered the O level then if PSLE managed to score for IP track not sure if can appeal.
But then also do not want to reject if given O level confirmation as PSLE if more than AL10 then rejected the O level confirmation, end up with nothing πŸ˜“

      Any advice?

Hi, for DSA sports, child usually is AL10. Wants to apply to IP under 2 schools with cutoff for IP is 8 points, and O level track cutoff is 9M/10.

1)During DSA application, shld we put "No Preference", will "No Preference" increase the chance of getting an offer?

2)Or if put under "IP Track", will they just reject if they think he is not suited for IP and won’t offer the O level track?

4)Should there be an offer for O level track, after PSLE results if child gets 8/7/6/5 are we able to appeal to go to IP Track?

My daughter got in to RVHS via DSA sports. Basically I feel that your son's academic result is more than sufficient to get in via DSA. It depends more on his sports performance and potential.

In short, like others have said, trial performance and interview are more important for sports DSA. Previous achievements in sports will only determine whether he gets a trial.

If he get pass the trial stage, during interview they will check on things like attitude and how they handle pressure. They even ask students to do a group presentation.

According to my daughter, some of her peers who received sports DSA CO, got a range of AL8 to 15 in their final PSLE result and some without HCL. So I think academic achievement is really less important for the school but nevertheless important for parents as we want them to cope academically as well.
Hi , can check since the report book already has participation in school games and won 1st tier, we won't be required to fill that in right? also any idea if edusave awards are not included in the report book, should we also state in the boxes provided? thank you!

May I check what is the difference between "Leadership" and "Leadership and character" as there is 2 options to choose. It seems to fall under uniform group in the portal, leadership will not have any commitment right?

Also if apply for 2 sports domain and 1 leadership domain to 3 different schools, the 10 boxes seems like to be submitting for sports and leadership together? eg if want to put 10 boxes of sports and 10 boxes for leadership, unable to?

      thanks all!
