LindaYong:Can you share which town/state your maid come from. Somehow I have impression that maid from Chin state are not that good.As what most people said, it depends. Some maids from the capital are just as good/bad from Chin state, etc.But I think that if you hire maids from Rakhine state (South West of Burma), you can get maids who can speak and understand basic English. You see, it's a tourism spot at this state with a number of foreigners and so most locals there learn English to cash off these tourists. So maybe you can try that.
