RE: NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (Diploma)
Dear all,
My Son, who is in the Sec2 Express stream, will be taking the Y3 admission test to NUS high. Any help on what to prepare? He has a passion in Maths, but not to the level of typical olympiad students. Are any useful websites or documents or advice to share? Thanks in advance!! -
RE: DSA 2022
Dear parents, My DD received an interview for MT (Malay) DSA at SCGS. Do you know whether the interview will be in the Mother tongue (Malay) or English? The interview slot is only 15 mins. Not sure what to prepare. Any tips would be good. Thanks in advance.

RE: 2020 Secondary Schools' COPs for 2021 Intake - Discussion
SJI vs Swiss cottage:
Parents, need advise. My son met COP for SJI o level (non-affiliation) (247), but still not shortlisted and allotted to Swiss cottage. Now I am in a dilemma whether to appeal or not.
I see many benefits being in Swiss cottage like proximity to home, literally no fees, more subjects offered compared to SJI etc., SJI is independent school (where I need to pay some fees), 40 mins travel time etc., I understand, in terms of outcomes for O-level, both schools produce similar results.
Is still SJI better than swiss cottage? What are the advantages of being in SJI? -

Thanks for giving some sort of hope, which is more essential for parents whose kids lost their PSLE and aiming to catchup in O-level.MrCool\" post_id=\"2005833\" time=\"1606700680\" user_id=\"187777:Hi MrCool, just correcting this because many other parents will be reading this too. To go into medicine or law, or even any course, they don't care about your PSLE score. It will not even matter next year, no one is going to care. Everyone will start on a clean slate. So pls don't dwell on this, and work towards achieving flying colors in A-levels! Jia you!!! :rahrah:

RE: Feeling unhappy for my son
Hi working_mom and A Cool Person! my DS also a bitter moment with PSLE results, where he was confident that he did well in Math. He got 247, which is not too bad personally, but not good enough for IP. He was dreaming for IP program!! Now he has to start everything from scratch. Like your son, his self-confidence is shattered, as he put tremendous efforts (not only in P6, since from P3 or earlier). So, 6 years of hardwork put DS into shit, which he cannot control. My concern is not about catching up in Olevel or later, but if he is aiming for a high professional degrees such as medicine or law. I understand that for those degrees shortlisting processes, they always start with PSLE score (I guess) to assess. I read somewhere that many times they consider minimum T-Score of 250 (not confirmed though). I feel worried that SG education system would send him to ditch if he is not in top 10%. His score would carry over until he completes his graduation (or even until he gets his first job). Eventhough MOE gives examples of N-Level students getting medicine or law, but how many such cases? Are they considerable? Sometimes life is crazy!! Anyway, we need to get out of it… let us wish them good luck!!

ACS Barker does not offer HMTL, as they don't normally get enough cohorts to take HMTL. Please check with the school before choosing. Students have to go to another centre to take HMTL, which could be tiring!!
251 is a IP-borderline case, u should try but be mentally prepared for the unexpected.[email protected]\" post_id=\"2005774\" time=\"1606667876\" user_id=\"123543:
Hi,
With a score of 251, what would be the best option for IP? I plan to keep below preferences for my kid
Would like to know if St. Joseph’s or Temasek is better for IP?
Victoria School (252 - 275)
St. Joseph’s Institution (Secondary) (251 - 263)
Temasek Junior College (Secondary) ( 250 - 264 )
Also considering O-level for next 3 options, which one is best amongst below? Is ACS Barker preferred over St.Josephs and other schools?
Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) ( 246 - 251 )
St. Joseph’s Institution (Secondary) ( 246 - 255)
St. Andrew’s Secondary School ( 247 - 249)
Anderson Secondary School (245 - 260)
Temasek and Victoria are A-level based IP whereas SJI is IB-based. U should discuss with ur son about A-level versus IB because they are quite different.
For the O level track, if academics is a priority, go for SJI and Anderson. -

Is it reasonable to put ACSI- O level with score 247? Any idea that COP for o-level might go down by 5 points?
