You would need to apply for it. Priority is for lower income families and remaining slots would be balloted for.

I do have a problem here. For parents that send their children by public bus, is there any shortcut to reach the school? My daughter takes public transportation too. I am not sure which way did you walk. There is a way to cut to the school among the terrace houses.
I am going to try my best to describe.
Let's say you are alighting at the bus stop in front of Tanglin Secondary school. Cross the road via traffic light. Turn left and walk along the pavement, turn right after the big drain and go straight ahead along the landed properties and you will see a pavement between two houses. Take that pavement and at the end of that pavement, you will see the school ahead on the left. You will enter via the guardhouse entrance.

Hope it helps.. it is less than a 5 mins walk from the bus stop
