Hi parents,

Does your child's math teacher insist on the last sentence for paper 2? My dd's teacher says she will minus 1 mark if they do not write, but my ds's teacher did not insist so last year when he took his psle. I find it wierd as it takes time to write that statement. Time is so precious, and I don't see how this statement contributes to the 3-5 marks. Isn't working more important for the marks allocation? And if the child copied the answer in the statement wrongly, wouldn't they be penalised and lost marks then? What's the logic?

The answer statement serve as a final check whether the child work out answer is what the question is asking, if your child is not too slow n can typically complete p2 ahead of the given time, it is actually beneficial to write the answer statement.
