DadOfGirl:Indeed, an easy paper would mean it's not easy for the \"just above-average students\" to score an A*, unless one is really very brilliant, and his score is on the extreme end of the distribution curve.wonderm:Since PSLE T-score is a measure of a child's performance relative to his cohort. An easy paper is not necessarily \"better\" than a difficult paper. It really depends on the child's strength in various subjects. If all papers are relatively easy, it will favor those students who are more careful and do not tend to make careless mistakes.
Since the absolute score does not really matter. I don't wish for easy papers, just wish my DS performs at his best whatever is the difficulty level of the paper.
Even though it is probably true that foreign students, PRs are stronger in CL and MA. I don't support the lowering of weightage in CL. If so, they may need to lower the weightage for MA as well. Since our kids are going to compete in the globalised environment when they grow up any way, it is ok for them to get used to the real world as a student.
Easy papers are not so good for students with good ability in the subject.. This is especially true for 'Maths' ... Last years Difficult paper really theo' the Std Deviation veryWide ... It benefited even 'Smart' ones & 'Super Smart' were very well rewarded
Anyway, we should give our children all the encouragement & support they need, and so long as they have put in their best, we can only go through this leanring journey with them. At the end of the day, we want them to know that what is more importhant is that they have put in their best effort in preparation, and in everything that they do. Let's all give our love & encouragement to our children. They all have a long learning journey ahead of them, not just academic exams.
