[>>>>>My son will be attending P1 in 2012. Called the school, was told that PV registration is closed. May i check who can i look for PV? Really hoping my son can study there.[/quote]

i am aware that the school will be needing volunteer parents to do buddy reading with some P2'S and P3's from January, and with the P1's from ard March. They meet with the children once or twice a week for ard 45min each time. all reading materials are provided.

i hv been spearheading the kcpps buddy-reading grp for the last 2yrs. send me yr name and h/p no, along with e days and times that u are available. i will see what i can do.

i was just wondering if anyone noticed something unusual on the ballet form > see e asterisked line below ‘terms and conditions’:

*"Please note…our office assistant male /or female staff) will be helping yr girl throughout the 1st month of her ballet lessons"

i’m wondering aloud why an ‘office astnt’ will be helping the girls with ballet in the 1st month, when there shd be a dance teacher who will be doing the teaching?

ie how will they help them? surely there is not admin work that the children r required to go through with them? /and if it’s to assist the kids physically with poise/positioning etc, then why use an ‘office astnt’ and more imporatnly, why ‘male’, esp for the P1’s who may be quite naive?

just wondeing if anyone else found that odd?

oh yes, and on another note, anyone with dd’s already there in ballet… cd u lmk how large the average size of each ballet class is? ie how many teacher(s) to how many kids?

      tia,

      >>>[Parents now are allowed to opt out of Catechism class. During my time, all of us, regardless of Catholics or not, have to sit in and listen. Ethics is good and teaches morals.

      hi Guppy and all,
thks for the religious studies info. it’s helpful to know. i also called up the school, and hv separately had a look at the catechism book. it’s a ‘christian’ kids’ workbook called 'Jesus and me" and is like a journey through all the Bible stories with some age-appropriate questions and thinking time.

the school mentioned that all e catholics have to join catechism class, which is where this book is used. non-catholics can choose to join too, or go to moral ed. i’ve decided to let my dd join the catechism because it seems to give a good grounding in the Bible.

      Hi Mummies,

My 1st posting here. 🙂 My dd will be in P1 nxt yr and we hv a blue form to fill in abt our pref for our dd to attend or not to attend Catechism.

From a protestant point of view, i am totally not sure what this entails? Cd someone with older kid/s at e school pls explain.

      eg.
a)-does it mean that my dd will be exposed to moral teachings/ Bible verses/ mini-sermons/ prayers/ & singing of hymns & choruses during assembly times, ie in the mornings (which is wot my son gets at his school rt now.)

b)-or will they meet separately at another time each week to have a Catholic religious studies class....?

      c)- or something else?

I'd just like to know for sure what i am signing her up for 😆
      Pls do share,
      tia El

P.S. My darling will be a 'Rose' nxt year... any other Roses out there to make friends with? :))
