My DS is only having his prelim oral starting this week… The school is concentrating on composition recently, doing average 1 - 2 compositions per week. The form teacher, an Indian teacher has been writting samples compositions and sharing them with the children. He keeps reminding them to use pharses. Even last Sat when they were back for extra lessons, the teacher was going through pharses and telling them high marks will be given if more pharses are used.

RE: 2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
DS came back yesterday, feeling super down. His teacher had given them some trial papers, which was super tough..... My husband and I were not able to solve some of the questions.
He has been scoring A* for Maths and Science, getting above 95 for SA1. Recent papers came back only 60+. He is feeling the stress and anxiety now, PSLE in another 2 months..
His teacher called and asked me to monitor his work closely. He mention the school is monitoring very closely on the top 10 students. Sometimes, I really wonder what is the school trying to do, studying from 7am - 4.30pm, giving them lots of homework and stressful papers, making them stress up etc..
Singapore is really a stressful environment for all children. My younger one saw his brother and kept asking whether is she going to go through the same process. :yikes: (Younger one also in 1st class)
I am just motivating DS at home, making him relax, cooking his favourite food and reassuring him we will love him no matter what his results is. -
RE: Nespresso Coffee Machine
Hi all,
I am thinking of buying one coffee machine but not too sure which is a better choice.
Considering either a Dolce Gusto Piccolo by Krups Coffee Machine or Nespresso with Milk (Aeroccino) CitiZ by Magimix Coffee Machine.
Dolce cost about $ 190 while Nesspresso cost about $680.
Dolce seem to be a good choice as it is able to make a wide varieties of beverages. Eg cholocate, latte etc
We do not drink coffee often, maybe once a week but want to have good coffee when we drink.
Any coffee expert can recommend on your experience? -
RE: Singapore Sports School
Maybe I am not so clear in my questions. Sorry about that.
My son is keen with the Golf Academy. End of 2011, was told the total intake for the whole Golf Academy in 2012 to be 21 students including new intake students. But in February 2012, the total students number shrink to 16. (That's mean 5 students left Golf Academy late last year. Pretty alarming to me as it is about 20%
)
Actually, I am more keen to have information from parents in the Golf Academy. Any parents could advise. Thanks -
RE: Singapore Sports School
Hi parents,
Was wondering what is the students dropout rate in SSP.
DS is very keen with SSP but I was shocked with the dropout rate in his area of sports to be more than 20%. :yikes: (Was told from 21 to existing 16 students)
Any parents able to advise?
