jennylkm09:
Anyone can share is Guangyang a good school? How about Zhong Hua ?
Hi Jennylkm09, i c an share some info about guangyang as my child is there! But as for ZhongHua, i'm afraid i cant help.
Guangyang is hmmm... a school that i would say an average school? I choose here is because i dont want my children to go through stress competition, as compared to those good and 'branded' schools like Aitong and Cat high. But here, is more like a friendly competition, teachers will motivate children to work harder, and children among themselves will also encourage each other to work hard together.
in 2010, they acheive Good progress school for PSLE.
I hope so far all these info helps. -

Hi Marzuki!joyfulsally:
Oh dear...from what I know, when the previous P left, GY had to move out to Ang Mo Kio for Prime. Hence, the school could not attract students. But GY did not go downhill! In 1 year, GY PSLE results went up. It has never improved so much before. It became some schools with Good Progress award. If you have talked to the P, she is definitely not useless!
This is what I heard from the teachers' conversation. When I shared with my neighbour that forumers said that GY got good results in one year and the Principal did some teaching. My neighbour informed me that the good result in one year that GY had was not representative because the cohort was very small and this impacted the average score of students. I shared that some parents from the forum was pleased with the principal Principal teaching students directly and interacting wth them. Was shocked when they shot back that staff told her (a parent) that this was a publicity stunt because principal was unapproachable and out of touch. Don't know how true this is because some parents in this forum are happy with the school and principal but I hear different things from other parents. However, this is a small group that I heard from and they may be influencing one another and hearing stories from some disgrunted staff. Recently, I also read a good report about GY in newspaper where a parent chose GY over branded schools. Maybe, there are some good things that the school is doing after all. Most disturbing was what I overheard from the two staff talking about their principal behind her back.
I hope GY will be able to get more students when they move back to Bishan and become as good as or better than the yesteryears when the previous Principal was there.
Wow! You got quite a piece of news here! Anyway, this year, my child is also in the 'tutoring' group of the Principal in gyps! And i was looking though some of the work that she gave, its of quite a high standard. So i supposed its more of a publicity work ba.....
Anyway, back to the school, i supposed as long as the school is moving forward, children are happy learning and making friends, i think how the Principal is like, is not too big a concern right? :xedfingers: -
