Hi - I’m wondering if there are any parents staying in the above area with kids in the first session who are keen on forming a car pool. It would be great if we could share the task of ferrying our kids to and from school. Taking the school bus is not a viable alternative as the journey’s just too long. Drop me a note directly pls if you’re interested.

      Thanks.

    • RE: Pat's Schoolhouse

My dd started with Pat’s Katong in K1 and is now in P1. She seems to be adjusting well and loves school. I was a little worried initially that she might struggle in P1 (given that the last quarter was virtually spent rehearsing for the graduation concert) but so far the work she brings home looks pretty simple, stuff she’s probably covered in K2, and she does well in spelling / ting xie / math.

She had a very dedicated teacher at Pat’s who followed her class through from Nursery right up to K2. They inadvertently call her mum at times!
Very caring and nurturing environment and parents get to meet often and exchange insights at birthday parties. The only "con" perhaps was that her class grew quite big (a little over 20) as the principal obviously felt the same about this teacher’s abilities and loaded her with the newer students. Pat’s kids generally turn out confident and articulate and should have no problems adjusting in any environment and coping with schoolwork.

She did also ask the parents to refrain from calling her office as no decision has been made yet as to where the holding location would be. Given the size of the school population, it is very hard for MOE to accommodate their specs, but they have nonetheless put in a wish list.

Parents will also be approached to co-pay for certain activities eg swimming and donation cards will be issued in due course to help raise funds for such programs and to purchase ceiling fans for the hall.

This forum is really useful. Thanks all for contributing.

When do we get to sign up for CCAs? My daughter’s a songbird, she’ll probably love choir too.

      Hi mums,

I’d like to come by during recess to observe my dd on her first day of school but I’m not sure when that takes place as there’s no information in the parent’s handbook. Could someone pls advise? Also, can we actually sit with them during recess or are we only allowed to observe from afar?
      Thanks!

Moonee- The main reason I didn’t go was because I’ve only started driving again for a couple of months (tho I did get my licence years back) and I was just not confident in making my own way to the school and back without my "backseat driver" to guide me - hubby’s currently away. : )

Luanee- Thanks for the tip and I will definitely take it as I have no intention of driving her there, at least not with my current crappy driving skills.

Yes, we’re very thankful that she got in. I actually didn’t attend the balloting, esp given that our chances were less than even -40%. Was really just praying for God’s will. I am relieved that this registration exercise is all over, finally!
