RE: Extra time for exams
My son has ADD and dysgraphia. He was diagnosed by the professional psychologist, approved by MOE, therefore given extra time for his PSLE. Now that he is in secondary, he was granted extra time without any further diagnosis, the fact that I did submit his previous report to the school. However I understand should he need extra time for his O level, which is couple years down the road, I will need to send him for diagnosis to get the latest report. Think report only valid for 3 years. I spend less than 1.5k for the assessment and reports, and all done within a month.
Hope that help.lilfeets\" post_id=\"1956768\" time=\"1577935756\" user_id=\"5423:
Dear All
I saw posting and thought to request some help from you.
My daughter was diagnosed with Autism low spectrum at p6 and was granted AA by primary school school psychologist. However, the MOE don't support for secondary and we have to get our own testing done for AA for N and O level. I don't know what type of test needs to be done for AA extra time or which certified educational psychologist to see. Would you be able to advise pls? I asked the school counselor and she also don't know. tests are very expensive (a few k) and i don't want to do any unnecessary ones if MOE don't need or worse if i didn't do one that they need. Appreciate your advice.
Thank you so much. -

Don’t worry about the laptop. The school will furnish all the details and information later on.

I just PMed you.
Hi all, any recommendations for organisations/specialist tutors who can teach Chinese to teenagers with Dyslexia who are weak in Mandarin? I understand DAS runs Chinese programmes, but they only accept Primary school students. Child is in Secondary school but has Primary level Chinese. Help! -
RE: All About Dyslexia
My Daughter was diagnosed moderately severe dyslexics when she was in Primary 1, however early intervention helped her, and now at P5 she has improved a lot, able to read and write independently, even through traits of dyslexics still exist. What is more important than the academic improvement is that her self confident was boosted. I suppose with family support and school support, kids with special needs still be able to enjoy school.

Thanks a lot for the information, at least we can pre-amp.Well, I got him science, language art and maths assessment books, but will need to do them by topics. He also relies on the school’s notes and hence mainly self learning.
He has no tuition as sst students will not benefit from those usual tuition centres. They are too slow for sst students in term of the topics covered.
For tuition, you need to go for 1 to 1 as some topics they covered in S1 are S3 topics. -

Does it mean no much of use to buy those S1 math assessment book or past year papers to work on them? But to focus on what the school provides? Does your DS have any form of tuition?Hi, yes, SST maths is indeed pretty demanding and my DS is also working very hard to do well in this subject, thou he scored A* in PSLE maths. But shld not give up now, is a good training ground for more challenges ahead.
SST is pretty different from other mainstream schools, they don’t follow the usual curriculum as they have their own programmes.
My DS has been very motivated in school and we are glad we let him made the decision to take up SST offer last year. -

Heard from my colleague her friend’s daughter now in sec1 and she cried and stress over her maths. They are learning sec3 maths in sec1. The girl was quite good in maths but still cannot cope. The father want to pull her out of SST if she fail year end.
For P6s to move on to S1s is an adaptation phase. New environment, double the subjects they are taking, new friends. So is common that some kids underperform. Family support and school support definitely will helps kids to overcome. Stay positive!
