Hi JBR, So sorry to hear that. My son did not have a place in any local school at all and we are seeking for many altenative solutions for next year. You may Ask to join facebook group named Singapore expats in local schools to have some advice from parents there or take a look at http://waldorfsingapore.com they offer grade 1 with new method and that kind of thing.

MP won't entertain foreigners. But we are advised to tag along SC-close friend/relative/neighbour in the area. So that is what we are planning to do.
Same concern, the chance is very slim.
But at this level, we are willing to try any possibility.
We haven't gone to see the MP yet as the schedule is Monday next week 7.30 pm.
We will update you guys.

Dear parents whom got the children rejection letter from MOE for P1


Is there any positive results from any effort(s) yet?

Ourselves, is trying to settle down our daughter with education-feed for P1 level following the MOE syllabus with tuition centre, private tuition, and extra curricular activities; in purpose of AIES test that we still want her to take to get into P2-MOE school.

Sadly, some of tuition centres refused our daughter to be enrolled since she's not attached with MOE-school

We also seeked the PCF Kindergarten Principal and she recommended us to see our local area MP to seek help, of course, since our status here is non SC/PR we need to bring local SC (close friend) to see the MP.

Until this last moment, we are still in high expectation of enrolling our daughter to MOE-School.

If you guys have any positive (or even negative) update, please note us.

So have you seen MP yet? One of my friend (foreigner) tried to see MP but he said that he could not accept any appeal from foreigners

I wroteemail to MOE and they replied with the same they wrote in letter. I find hard to sleep since the day I recieved the refused letter. Don't know what can I do next.

I have been reading a lot of comments/recommendations from other moms regarding this. Some are planning to hold private tutoring classes and some advise to go for tuition centres. If you joined the Singapore Expat in Local Schools in facebook, you will be able to read a lot more about this.

Sorry I misunderstood your last reply so I just edited my reply awhile ago in case you read it. Anyways...

I just read in another forum that when they went to MOE and they were given the same answer as the one in the rejection letter. So now, I'm not really sure going to MOE now would help if they are saying the same thing.

Yep I think so, calling or going there is not a good idea bcause the staff cant do any thing now. They only listen, repeat the same thing that we dont want to listen.

I have also talked to other parents who had the same issue before and they got their kids placed in a local school. They said they asked for assistance from MOE, one directly went to MOE office and the other through email. Both just kept asking the case workers for updates. They only got the good news after 2mos, so their kids were able to get into a local school by the end of January.

So my next step is to appeal to MOE and get a case worker help me out. MOE customer service do respond quickly but just have to ask them for updates from time to time.

Today, I called to the registered school and the principal hadn't even known the result yet. She got surprised and checked the info of my son in her data and she said that she would put him in waiting list.
Another school said that I could go to their school and filled the waiting list form. Some other schools said they had no vacancies left.

I'm so sorry to hear that your kids were not able to get into P1 local school next year... I do not have any other advise... like Eloise said, you can call local schools in your area and ask to be put in wait list (if they have one).

maybe another option is for you to home school your kids until they can take the AEIS? my daughter is no P2 and from P1 curriculum, it is not that difficult or complicated.

Regarding the AEIS, I really have no idea about that but it seems it can be another option for us.

Good thing you know someone who can help you find private school. In case you guys find one, could you please let me know?

With regards to my friend, that's what they did and maybe they just got lucky. Also, my employer's father who worked for MOE before said that I just have to keep trying. MOE says it's final but there still schools out there that has at least one vacancy but it may be too far from our/your area.

I will call schools tomorrow and will give an update on how it turns out.
