Hi, I have a friend whose son meet the COP of his choice JC Eunoia but was posted to a poly. I am curious if posting is purely base on merit or there are other criteria that MOE considers?

    • RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting

Congrats to you rranger and your DD. Thank you for sharing your story and it must have been a tough time applying for transfers and waiting for the outcome. Hope Dunman is a perfect fit for your DD. It is so much more convenient to take MT in the school premise itself, an important consideration for students when choosing their secondary schools.

Did anyone appeal direct through MOE and receive a positive outcome?

    • RE: ACS (I)- Is it a rich man's school?

Every school has its fair share of rich kids, not just ACSI I feel. When DD was in Pri sch, it is not uncommon to hear classmates going holidays and flying on first or business class. Kids are much more fortunate these days.

I think of all the test/ SA in P6, prelim is the most important. Just in case the child is unable to take PSLE due to medical reason, prelim marks will be used to convert to tscore.

May I know where to purchase know Kindle? Tks
Recently, my friends bought their Kindle Paperwhite from Carousell. There are several sellers, you may browse around and get from someone with higher rating and has available stock (do not need to wait/ pre-order).
This is something new to me as I thought COP is around 200 for affiliation, similar to most of the other mission schools. 226 is quite high, I think it is 4th highest? After NYGH, Catholic High and St Nicks.

ACSI O level affiliation COP is 235, SJI O level affiliation COP is 238.

Mylilgirl, ya usually mission Sch try to accept the feeder pri sch . But I think MSH is a sap Sch , so need to set higher cut off . It is a pure express Sch.
Also, Do note acsi n sji are independent school n pure express classes beside IB
Thank you very much for the sharing. I am more familiar with those girls’ sch than boys’. Now that my elder one had completed PSLE, I have to start finding out more for my younger one. I foresee it is going to be a bigger headache as he is super lazy and not academically inclined.

By the way, does MSH allocate the Sec 1 classes by tscore? In my DD’s SCH, students are all randomly allocated to the 5 classes.

Hi Is it necessary for parents to buy past year PSLE papers from popular or would the schools provide as practice? Is there 10 year series? Thanks.

Not knowing that the SCH will provide the PSLE papers to all students to practice, I purchased them in beginning of the year. Do check with your SCH. Depending on the subjects and teachers, some will let the students practice beyond past 3 yr papers.

I think schools will give PSLE 2018 papers to the students, free (for all subjects). Do check with the sch teachers before you buy those booklets.

    • RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting

To me it is not about chasing after a higher COP school but finding the best match according to a child’s ability.

In order to stretch the child learning potential, it is best to cluster students with similar tscore or ability together.

I do not see any issue with this grouping or posting in the top 10-15% cohort. From what I gather, those students impacted the most are the 220-240 range. I am just wondering shouldn’t MOE be doing a better job in this.

As parents, follow your heart and do what is best for your child. Even if the appeal is unsuccessful, at least you have tried.
