Hi Wenthena,After school care is great for homes with 2 working parents. If you can manage your son's timing, you can get him to do all his homework plus learn his weekly spelling and ting xie there. So when you go pick him, it's all family time spent talking and playing games.
Good thing is the uncles and aunties there helping with school work.
Also, after school, they get picked by the centre from the hall to go to the after school care. They have shower, lunch, then activities( both indoor and outdoors) and they have LCs to do if no homework. At about 4 pm they got afternoon tea and I think outdoor games.
In my opinion, it's better they go to after school care than plonk them at home with a maid. Cos I think if that's the case, they'll spend all time in front of the TV/computer. And by the time I get home, surely very tired cos have to deal with the homework and spellings etc. but if 1 parent doesn't work, it's better to stay home I think.
So far, I'm happy with the after school care. I'll put my P1 there also next year.
:thankyou: so much on the info
By the way, i would like to check with you on the student care operating hr and do u know whether the school bus are able to send the kids back home
Thank you -

Hi there,
Anyone whose son is taking golf as their CCA? Able to share more info on this. Thkq
Hi,
My P1 boy takes golf as CCA. What do you wish to know?
Hi eetsc,
I would like to know more about the CCA
1) do yr son enjoy the training? How many times a week?
2) how does the training go about it, do parent need to send the boy to any other location four training?
3) and how much do we need to pay and lastly what advise will u give
:thankyou: for your time
Hi,
Yes, my son enjoys golf. It's once a week.
The school changed the golf operator this year. It's at mandai golf now. Am not sure who they used last year. Training for P1 and P2 is on mondays.
The kids have lunch, and then assemble at a classroom where they are guided by the teacher in charge to the chartered bus which will bring them to/fro. Golf lessons are from 1.45pm for 2 hours. After that, the bus brings them back to school and the parents can pick them from there.
For 20 lessons, we pay $500. These 20 lessons stretches till end of school terms as they stop CCA on holidays and exam periods. This does not cover green fees. They only bring the kids to the green if they are at level 2.
Currently, my kid is at level 2, but I think they will only start bringing them to the greens in July onwards so am not sure about green costs. But kids are expected to have their own full set of golf clubs to go to the green. If you want your kid to take up golf as a serious sport, then you should send him for further training. The kids are divided into 2 groups currently; level 1 & level 2 players depending on their skill and maturity level. Each group has between 8-10 kids. Level 1 group has 2 coaches as there are more kids there; while level 2 has 1 coach.
Hi eetsc ,,
Thank you for the above info.....
Btw can able to share yr view about the school overall...... :thankyou: -

RE: 2013 P1 Registration Exercise for 2014 In-Take
phtthp:
Phase 2c (last year 2012) -
I) st Andrew junior -
Balloting occurred for sg citizenship children - staying between 1 to 2 km.
Ii) st Gabriel -
Lots of vacancies remain at end of phase 2c. Not to worry.
If you don't want any risk, then go for st Gabriel.
But if want to try yr luck at st Andrew, then come back st Gabriel in phase 2c supplementary.
Academic wise -
Write into both schools, request for past 2 years Psle results, compare which school is stronger ? Don't talk to the admin. Talk to the principal or vp, for Psle results. Ask specifically for the \"percentage passes of a and a*, for all thr 4 subjects. don't just get the general percentage Passes. \" If she ask you why you need to know in detail, just speak the truth - that you're considering this school seriously, hence need to know all the detail. \"
Also need to check if that cca your son is interested in - is found in which school ?
Because when come p5/p6 (ie. 2018 / 2019), some of the students may dsa into certain secondary schools, via cca.
Hi phtthp,
:thankyou: for yr helpful advise :please:
Hehee was also thinking to try St Andrew :xedfingers: then St Garbiel but still need to wait till tat day n see what will be the phase 2C balance
