RE: DSA 2023
Just to update, have gotten email from ACSi for CCA trial but as it falls on same day as NUSH, the NUSh staff has advised us to write in and show that there are clashes
They may give alternate timings but subject to approval and if there are enough students who face the same situation with clashes. -
RE: Travel: Korea - General
hi mummy chia and everyone
sorry I have been away in hk and Taiwan and fell sick
my trip to korea is next week:)
and to upfate, I did mange to book a one day tour in busan as I wanted to save on time.
I chose to go with etour jacky lee as mentioned by some mummies in older threads.
pick up from busan station to attractions and a night tour
12-8 pm
350 usd
reference for anyone who is keen.
** if you intend to travel out of seoul
get the kr rail ktx , I bought a 3 day pass, unlimited ktx travel and being "kiasu"also reserved actual tickets for the trips I am taking.
can cancel if you change your mind
kr pass cheaper
152000 won for 2 person, saver pass 3 day unlimited
as compared to
161000 won one way trip from seoul to busan for 2 pax (although its firs class but kr pass will be cheaper)
need to exchange for real tickets at train station window.
now reading up on the thread on how I can get transportation from Incheon airport to apartment in dongdaemun as I want to get into seoul fast as have dinner apt at 7pm
help needed:)
for those experienced mummies, must I really prebook sim card with data plan to collext from airport , or are sim cards with data plan easily available in convenience stores in seoul?
sim card needed for iphone and lg phone
thanks in advance,
faith -
RE: Travel: Korea - General
Hi mummy chia;)
Have you Been to jeonju? Ya read that the bibmpap is great .
I went free easy with the same family combo last year to melbourne and it was ok because it's English so relief!
I speak mandarin but can't recognise or write it well ( gave it back to teacher ) my standard is stuck at pri 2
So korea will be challenging .
Taking ktx back to seoul
**Did consider taking ktx down to busan from jeonju but for some reason in those trip advisor trip people didn't seem to encourage it, seems everyone takes bus
Cos no direct ktx
Need to get up to iksan and still do transfer and there care cases the other train doesn't come.
Only one ktx train in the day for the transfer to take place .
And it's economy seat which is still fine for us.
Or
Can take inuiro train (local train)? Which has more timings and transfer options
Time ; all in about 3 hours plus ( not too bad ) but I do have luggage.
Cost
57000 won x 2 ( won count my boy since below 3 no cost
Approx 120 usd
I did have an agent who replied me through this site called http://tourguides.viator.com/
I am not sure how good or trustworthy this guide is , but he quoted me
875 usd for transport from jeonju to busan and included a tour which included the following
- B course Itinerary -
1. pick up cheonju (jeonju) hanok village 08.00 am
2. Busan hightlights
- Hae un dae resort area ( Kwang An bridge )
- Yong Du San Park (Busan tower)
- GuK Je local plaza market
- Nam Po Dong Street (Down town )
- Ja Gal Chi ( International fish market )
3. hotel check in
Included
1. Exclusive Tour Vehicle + Guide
2. Gas + Toll + Parking fees
Excluded
1. Meals
2. Admission fees
Vehicle
* Family Car
1-4 pax with luggage: max. 7 pax
Booking cost : USD 275 ( viator website )
Vehicle fare : USD 600 ( pay cash in busan )
* Just for transport to From cheonju (jeonju) hanok village
to Busan city : Booking USD 275 + Vehicle fare USD 500
Pick up Jeonju hanok Village 13.00 pm - arrive Busan 17.00 pm.
as you can see they earn from the tour part , naturally.
Excluded his A itenerary as it goes to gyeong Ju and I am not into temples
Looking at the tour itenerary , I don think its that fantastic but I haven't done my busan research yet.
Do u think those places worth going or are they places I can go easily ?
Or if feeling adventurous I might really just take the train route..
I have never taken their intercity buses so I don know what to expect ...
Apologies for my long post -
RE: Travel: Korea - General
Wow ! So glad I found this thread , such super useful information.
How was the weather ? Daddyy?
Mummychia his indeed very experienced .:)
Been to korea 8 years ago and
Now
Going in nov 7-16 with mum60 s and a 30 month old boy.
Renting thru airbnb.
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1017537
Suits our purpose and near train station.
On airbnb, I agree that Skype one of the jives hosts around, answered my emails promptly.
Also recommend user ahram, she's been very polite throughout.
I saw those Sui lofts but only 2 1/2 of us and wanted to save money...but they look so good.
Only rough guide and planning
Will be in seoul 4 days , 1 day jeonju ( really want to see and stay the hanok
Village ) then move on to busan , probably stay 1 or 2 nites(but it really seems that its rather similar to seoul in sense of markets and all except for beach , take ktx back to seoul , another 3 nites .
There's this website I found
K-shuttle.com
http://www.k-shuttle.com/
***can only be opened on a desktop
Only foreigners allowed on it and it has good itinerary if u wish to go outside seoul and explore. English speaking guides.
Intending to take only the first part of their journey to jeonju
But here's where I am stuck
Getting from jeonju to busan
Bus 4 hours !!! Not confident I can handle toddler and elder alone ...
So am researching on private vans or cars.
Anyone has any contact ?
Thanks -
