    • RE: All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers

Hello, anyone can give some feedback about kel’s music studio and staccato at bukit timah plaza? Am hoping to take lessons there but i’m not sure which to go to. Staccato seems to be only for young children and i have tried fame music studio before and it was not very good. So I am hoping to try kel’s music studio but there isnt much info on it.

      Hi zeemimi,

In the past few years, all 2 pointers have successfully entered RJC and HJC, as well as many 3 pointers. Unless there's a proliferation of 2 pointers this year, I would think entry to RJC and HJC should be more or less confirmed. Do you sense that there are a lot of 2 pointers this year?

Yup. Her school alone has > 70 2-pointers. I saw the rjc website admits about 250 through jae.

Just curious what school is your DD from? I heard many good schools did badly this year (with an exception of a few) so I'm quite shocked to hear this news.

Hi I hope this info is still of use to you, but I talked to the teacher at NYJC open house and he said as long as your L1 and three subjects(or four I’m not really sure) is below ten points you can take 4H2s, and the subjects must be science I think. But I’m not sure if art stream criteria will be different.

      Can anyone provide feedback:

      1) O level results 2013 in terms of distinctions/L1R5 scores
      2) what the school did to improve O level scores for this year
      3) can joining clubs and societies garner 2 points deduction for L1R5?

      Thanks in advance!
      1) i think its relative (you might have high expectations) but i think the school did well.
      2) i'm not sure what they did to improve since i dont know what they used to do. but i can tell you the school worked VERY VERY hard. If the students work 10x the teachers work 100x more. i honestly feel sad for some of my teachers because they have to work so hard.

    • RE: Crescent Girls' School

I have graduated from crescent and would love to offer my advice to any of you whose DD is joining crescent. 🙂 Just to speak about my experience, Crescent is a fantastic school! I would really like to state everything i love about the school but it would really be too long. It wasnt my first choice but i am really happy i came to crescent. There is no \"popular kid\" and everyone is nice (the people i know at least) and i really like our principal and how she emphasises that grades are not everything, which i think it's what the youths these day needs to hear. Plus i do admit some teachers are not very good but i left crescent feeling grateful to all my teachers.

    • RE: All About International Baccalaureate (IB)

Hi! i would like to ask for you to share your opinion if IB or alevels is better. i am considering between IB or alevels and would like to do my research first before my results come out. I know both have their pros and cons but i would like to ask

does IB have it harder to get into uni? Many people i know are wary of IB cause they are still not familiar with it. And although many universities says they do accept IB, i am afraid there might be some prejudice since alevels has been around for a longer time. Many consider alevels a safer option but Ib really does sound tempting.
