My son just got his results for Year 1 IP moving on to Year 2. He seems he’s struggling with ‘Humanities’ and ‘Language Arts’ but did well in Maths. I believed it’s the application of what he learnt, techniques and skills in answering the questions. Thus need to seek help to guide him in these areas.

Is there any tuition centre that follow closely to TJC IP syllabus? Especially in Humanities?

Two potential scenarios -

a. If two students have identical UAS both apply for same course, does it mean that the student with ‘better’ H2 grades stands a better chance to be offered a place?

b. The IGP assumed grade C for GP and PW. If a student has GP=E and PW=A, the points if we calculated is same as GP/PW=C. If their 3H2/H1 grades are the same. This means their UAS is identical. Which student will be the one offered a place?

University like NUS, NTU published the indicative IGP for the degree courses.


Since it’s ‘indicative’, does meeting the 10th percentile of the course a good gauge to be offered a place this year?

My son is waiting for the A level results. The best case scenario is he can get into the local universities.


Looking at the published IGP, the 10th and 90th percentile looks very high indeed and wonder how students scored so good results.

If my son cannot get into a local university, one option is to go overseas but I’m aware the high cost. I believed it’ll be around 150k to 200k for 3-year study.

He is keen on doing accountancy and apply to Uni of Toronto but I am not sure if this is a good choice if we’re going to spend this money.

Anyone can share about this university? or any suggestion for accountancy degree course?

My youngest one is keen on the 6-year TJC’s IP after her PSLE. Refer to curriculum posted on TJC webpage, I am wondering if the subjects/syllabus are the same as typical Secondary?

My son wants to do a law 3-year degree in UK after his A level this year. Assuming he gets in a place in university in one of these like UCL, LSE, Warwick and Nottingham, I understand London living cost will be higher. How much does do I need to budget for -

a. tuition fee
b. living costs
c. any other cost.

If two students (4H2 vs 3H2H1) end up having the ‘same score’. Both apply for the same course in University, does it means the 4H2 student will have advantage in getting it?

My son is in JC1 doing PCME. He’s thinking of dropping Physics to H1 to focus on the other H2. His reason is that he’s more interest in Chemistry than Phsyics and needs 3H2 and 1H1 for University entry.

His school has not ask him to drop one H2 though. Is it too hasty to drop now or should he wait till JC1 promo exam? Will this affect the choices available for his university entry?
