      MD please

Pls help me on this question:

      1. There were 40 children at a party. The number of sweets each girl received was 11/2 times as many as that of each boy.
      a) if the girls received 40 more sweets than the boys in total, how many more girls than boys were there at the party?
      b) what was the total number of sweets given to all the children at the party?

      Best regards

      Erm, any reason for asking?

      Hi

I found some of your questions quite different from those from past years papers.

Take for example, Q1 in your last post, this is the first time I am seeing it.

I feel it’ll be beneficial for current students to take note of new trend questions, that’ s why I am asking for the sources .In this way, students may be alerted to pay more attention to them.

However, if you’re uncomfortable to reveal them, it’s perfectly alright.

      Best wishes

Hihi, pls help on these questions:

      1. Alicia had 20% more stickers than Randy. Then Alicia gave away 30% of her stickers to her sister. Randy received 28 stickers from Peter. As a result, Randy now had 25% more stickers than Alicia.
How many stickers did Alicia have at first?

      2. Shelly has some vanilla and chocolate sweets in her bag. If she adds 20 vanilla sweets into the bag, the percentage of vanilla sweets in the bag becomes 40%. If she adds 30 chocolate sweets in the bag, there will be 70% of chocolate sweets in the bag. How many vanilla sweets and chocolate sweets does she have?

      3. On average, a bakery sells 500 fish fillet buns at$1.50 each day. When each bun increases by 20%, the total sales volume drops by 25%.
      A. Find the new price of each bun.
      B. find the number of buns sold at the new price.
      C. What is the percentage change in the amount collected from the sales with the increase in the price?
      D. Find the percentage discount required on the new price to adjust the price to its original level

      TIA

(3). Peter and Tom shared a number of books in the ratio of 3:4. After Peter and Tom bought another 19 books and 2 books respectively, the ratio becomes 4:3. How many books did Peter have at first? (Using External Transfer Concept)

      Thanks 🙂

      Hi

You may use “Units and Parts”

      At first
      Peter: Tom ------ 3 units:4 units

      Change
      Peter: Tom ------ 19:2

      In the end
      Peter: Tom ------ 4 parts: 3 parts

Equalise the parts or cross multiply.

      3 units + 19 ------ 4 parts
      (x3)
      9 units + 57 ------ 12 parts

      4 unit + 2 ------- 3 parts
      (x4)
      16 units + 8 ------ 12 parts

      9 units + 57 ------- 16 units + 8
      7 units ------ 49
      1 unit ------ 7

      Peter ------ 3*7 ------- 21

      Best wishes

      Hi,

Appreciate if anyone can help me the below ques:

      1. Adeline has $40 which is made up of fifty-cent and twenty-cent coins. There are 50 fifty-cent coins. What percentage of the number of his coins us twenty-cent coins?

      Thanks

      Hi Ngserene617,

We just need to list down the facts given.

Total money Adeline has = $40
      fifty cent coins = 50
      Value of fifty cent coins = 0.50 * 50 = $25

      amount of money in twenty cent coins = $40 - $25 = $15
      Number of twenty cent coins = $15/0.2 = 1500cents/20cents = 75

      Total number of coins = 75+50 = 125

      % of twenty cent coins = 75/125 *100 = 60%

      Hope this helps.
