01 scouts is a national scout group, wears red scarf
02 scouts is a RI scout group, wears green scarf
I think that’s about all the differences lol

Thank you for reply...AnneY:
Anyone can share what are the activities during the year 3 outward bound?
There was a land and a sea expedition. Boys are divided into teams. Some will do the land first and some do the sea first. The sea expedition consists of rowing two way between the Ubin island to the main land (singapore). The land expedition was a long trek on Ubin itself. [This was for 2011 camp].
btw, is it compulsory to attend the sea expedition?
Yes it is. Valid medical reasons are obviously accepted. If you get seasick whatever halfway the lifeboat following the expedition will pick you up.
The land and sea expedition are only for the last 2 or 3 days of the camp, the previous days are all very slack -

Uniform groups can really shape a person’s character at this point. All of them give TONS of FREE CCA points (basically don’t need do anything also can get)
If you must know, Uniform groups are different in the following ways
NPCC - Huge emphasis on discipline and DRILLS(oh my god the drills), lots of leadership opportunities. Relatively tiring but depends on your effort put in of course.
NCC - moderate emphasis on discipline and drills. More emphasis on physical activities. The current teacher-in-charge is very enthu. Very easy to slack.
Scouts - Practically no drills.Emphasis on camping activities(obviously). Very tiring. Long and tiring camps. Leadership opportunities are plenty, but in a different way because more initiative is needed on your part.
Boys Brigade - Similar to scouts but do different activities, such as roller-skating, cross country and of course the lame BB stuff that they always do. Drills are of more emphasis than scouts but still not a main activity(like NPCC omg) Not sure about leadership opp
Red Cross - The slackest of the lot. Learns the most practical knowledge, though most of my RC friends tell me they forget everything once they leave. Has decent drills. Very very easy to slack.
By population
Scouts
Boys Brigade
NPCC/NCC (not sure)
Red Cross
RI Uniform groups are generally more slack compared to other schools, I have no idea why. -
CCA - Floorball
Any of ur DS already in Floorball ?
Do they practise 3 times a week ( or are all sports thrice a week anyway) & is it very competitive ie are there a lot of competitions to attend ?
I am also looking at Uniform Groups for my son. Which is the least hectic of the lot ? Anyone knows about RedCross?
Not good as in they don't win as much, but it's alright la. Training is all the same. Sports CCA students generally have to work harder. Uniform Groups in RI are all less hectic for some reason. Red Cross is definitely the least hectic, but they are all quite different
DON'T JOIN A CCA JUST TO SLACK!!!
You'll just regret it for 10000 years. -

According to the seniors, teachers seldom use textbook to teach. if not wrong, they always handout notes/worksheets. Textbooks are only for reference so dont intend to let son bring them to school.
Investiture ceremony starts 6.45pm to 8pm. Reception thereafter. Be seated by 6.40pm.jchiow:
Oh ok. Cos mine has packed all 3 n the bag is extremely heavy. Probably will ask him to take out some
Yeh me too..the bag is pretty heavy & thinking tat tom will be the investiture ceremony, it's realli tough to carry the bag here & there..
Anyone knws wat time will the event ends? DS is learning how to wear a tie from some RI group members thru some video...quite hilarious..
CCA details for Yr 1 out on Stamford 14. I received an SMS on welcome note for yr2 to 4, but did not receive an SMS regarding the CCA for yr 1. :?

RE: Secondary School CCA
But of course CIP is extremely important in the future. Since time is better dedicated to studying in JC, spamming CIP hours in Secondary School gives you a very attractive portfolio for university admission
