I am contradicting between MacBook Air and Pro. Will Macbook Air be enough to last for 4 years?

What are everyone buying? Can share?

All of my Mac laptop lasted more than 3 years, even the most basic ones, and I’m talking all the way back to iBook G3.

To stretch it to more than 4, you will probably need to go for the Pro with the latest i5 quad core chip. You may want to max out the ram to 16GB since Ram is no longer a user upgradable component. That said, 8GB ram is probably more than adequate for typical users. JK is selling a 512GB SDD version whereas Apple own base set comes with 128GB SDD. Frankly, 128GB / 256GB is more than enough if you learn how to make use of external HDD (1TB or 2TB are going for rock bottom prices).

Thanks, floppy! I was just going to ask about the difference of the various gb numbers. I’m tending towards getting a 128 and then he can use an external hdd. The price difference is pretty significant.
Just checked MOE website.

1st day of Phase 3...

2274 kids vying for 1507 places nationwide!!! (if i didn't hv butter fingers on the calc..)

Only this year (2007 golden piggies) -
Total number of applicants exceed total number of Vacancies, in phase 3.

Never happen before.
Too many piggies looking for school.

I think it's due to the influx of foreigners, not because of golden piggies. I foresee this will occur every year from now onwards. Or is govt going to build more new schools?? Really a strain on resources...
i thot i read somewhere that there are enough places?
i cannot remember details though.

Aiyo, just cap the alumni phase, distance should not be the deciding factor. As long as oversubscribed, go for balloting. The school will then have rich and not so rich alumni's children, good mix. Afterall, the children need to learn to accept each other's background. If base on distance, then all rich children will study together, also not healthy. Our future leaders if never mingle with the lower income group people, next time will not understand the poor people's agony, no good.

Then I am curious… if you were here for 15 years already… why did you not get Singapore citizenship for your child when he was born, or even when he was 1 or 2? Why wait til last minute to go to apply? Wouldn’t it be safer to have converted to SC earlier? We all know that government agencies don’t work fast and this kind of thing takes time.

if your house is nearby the Kumon centre, twice a week still manageable.

but if your house is far away from the centre, twice a week is taxing.

nightlone,
can I check is your son's centre each session 30 minutes or 45 minutes, for Kumon Maths ? TQ
haiz he dreams... so he takes almost an hr...
