ksks:

That Jan 15 open house is for O level student going to Jc1. The Ip open house usually happens in the 1st Saturday of June sch holiday as that will be the time that the DSA is opened for registration.

My Dd is in Year1 this year. She enjoys going to school so far.

What i can say is Tjc is not the top tier1 school for sure and its facilities are generally old as compared to other top ip schools. It is also not the usual 1st choice school for top students. However Tjc seems to be comfortable \"in its own skin\" so it does possess a very unique characteristic - possibly i would say the non-pretentious and down to earth.... in look and in its public relations....

So if you want your child to be in a prestigious school which everyone talks about or yearns to go.... or a school that was labelled as \"popular\" becos most ksp discussed most actively about...... then tjc is not the school. ....
Well said ksks, my sentiments too.

I haven't visited other ip schools or their open houses, and wasn't keen in ip programme either. But during TJC open house, what attracted me were the local and overseas job attachments, and the many community and humanity projects that the students would be exposed to.
And also, the very small intake played a part too.

Dear parents in Temasek JC......

I would like to know more informations and all kind bad & good an experiences that you all are facing. Please kindly to share with me.
My DD taking his PSLE this year. I am really stressed with looking good \"secondary/high school\".

I am interested in this TJC and also thinking when open house too.

Thank you and appreciated^^
Hi, it's best you visit the schools when they have open house, that way, you get to know more bt what they offer and how the students learn, esp for IP programme.

My DD just started sch in TJC this yr.
Apart from higher CL and Maths where u can get assessment books from the bookstores, the student have to do lots of self-learning and research on their own for the other subjects.

They have many group projects too.

Talk to the students and teachers at the open house, if you'd like to know if your child is suitable for the IP programme, or the more structured test/exam-based secondary schools.

phtthp:

means this year batch :
Dunman High COP drop 3 points, from 256 to 253, still can get in.

Just called Temasek Junior College, plus a few schools.
- Temasek JC confirmed that this year COP is 249.
(dropped 3 points from 252, last year)

- National JC confirmed that this year COP is 254.
(also dropped)

- Cedar Girls Sec confirmed that this year COP is
248 (O level)
252 (IP)

- SCGS Sec confirmed that COP is
248 (O level)
250 (IP)

- CHIJ St Nicholas Sec confirmed that COP is
245 (O level)
253 (IP)

anyone with 255, 256, 257 managed to enter Rgs Sec ?
After taking in 70+ DSA students, TJC only had 75 vacancies left for direct posting, yet the COP dropped 3 points... What does that imply? Hmmm...

对话第二十五题的答案也太没水准了吧!

Option 1: 这个答案接得上,但是只要是家教比较好的小孩都应该不会选这样的答案。你会和朋友这样子说话吗?太不尊重对方也不合情理了吧!

Option 2: 除非有预知能力,要不这答案也接不上

请教育部认真出题好不?这是哪门子的对话,要把小孩教坏吗?
哈哈!说得好!

Questioner:
So overall is it easy ?

Most probably 90marks won't get a* right?
According to my P6 Maths teacher friend, the paper seemed harder than last year's cos it had more tricky questions.
But if the student is strong in the concepts, solving the questions wouldn't be a prob; he or she would probably lose careless marks at those tricky questions, like the //gram question.

Trevortan:
Question is roughly : There are 60 apples and 75 pears. She wants to group them together with no remainder. There are same no. of total fruitsin each group. How many apples are there in each group?
1) 5
2) 4
3) 12
4) 15

60/12 = 5 groups
75/15 = 5 groups

12+15 = 27 total fruits (12 apples + 15 pears in a group). So total there are 5 groups.
My DS's tuition teacher said the ans is 3.

So there are 60 apples, in your words, 60/5 = 12 in each group. There should be 12 pears as well. 75/12 = X Answer is not 3.
Let's take 4 groups. 60/4 = 15
75/15 = 5 No remainder. Correct! Answer is 4.

But the question said that \"She wants to group them together with no remainder\".
So you are saying apples has 4 groups and pear has 5 groups?
I thought apples and pears are grouped together? :?
I agree with bleeze, that answer is 12 if it is really so that the question states that \"there are same number of total fruits in each group\", not \"each group has the same number of apples and pears\".
