Gluttonish:

Thanks - called agent to enquire and was told that she needs to have the card else she will be stopped from coming out of Indonesia.

However, my friend says she brought her maid to bintan and batam without the card and there's no problem. Wonder why?!
sometimes... when i go batam, i dont even see an immigration officer... LOL.. (if arrive too early) maybe they r more relaxed on the issue.. depending on the officer's mood i guess and whether they want kopi $$$

ask her to call the indonesia embassy in singapore or KTKLN office in Indonesia to be sure...

i dunno the number for this... maybe can check with embassy

if you will be renewing her contract, best to ask her to get her KTKLN card done first.. so next time less trouble when you renew her contract.. so far my ex-maid (who came in 2009 i think) went back w/o KTKLN card w/o getting blocked at immigration.. but dunno about coming out of indonesia.. i rmb seeing somewhere they have airport KTKLN processing office, but i think might ask for kopi $$$

Hi all,

Thanks for the reply!
My ex-maid has went back to Indonesia by giving excuse that she has some urgent matter to settle. Her employer worried she not coming back so get her to pay the rest of the loan and mentioned they will cancel her work permit if she not back by 12 Apr.

According to my ex-maid, she is the number 6 maid that they have hired. Other maids before her also not able to stay long.

So for this case, can I apply work permit for her after 12 Apr?
Can I apply directly through MOM?
you can check her work permit status online using her work permit number and personal details... all required details should be on her work permit card..

http://app.mgov.gov.sg/mservice/sms.aspx?id=92
Key the following into the SMS:
1. wpd001 followed by a space
2. chkwp followed by space
3. Work Permit No. followed by a space
4a. Date of application (in ddmmyyyy format) to check work permit validity
OR
4b. Employer’s CPF No. or the NRIC number of the emplo
If the work permit is cancelled with the reason that the maid has run away and did not return, I am not sure if this will affect her new application to work in singapore...
• RE: Really impossible to direct hire Indonesian maid?

BuSy JuNeBuG:

Sounds like you and your maid are very lucky! My maid, who had worked for another SG employer previously and who is also pretty experienced, said that generally they would just get a maid passport - cheaper and easier (but then again, to get the KTKLN, they still have to buy Indon insurance and pay the authorised Indon agent. So maybe the cost cancels itself out or it might even cost more than an ordinary/tourist passport once the cost of KTKLN/insurance is factored in). She also mentioned that Singapore ICA is known to stop women carrying ordinary Indon passports and question them at length on their reasons for visiting Singapore (need to show proof of hotel stay, sufficient money, etc.) and may turn them back if they are found to be coming to work. No info as to whether the employer had already gotten MOM approval and all the other documentation done. Again, all this is very anecdotal and can't be verified.

I have a question about the employment contract. Has anyone who has direct hired done the online registration of the contract described below and what happens if it is not done? Does it make it harder for the maid to apply for a KTKLN or does the maid run into problems the next time she needs to renew her passport at the embassy or in some other situation?
if i read busygal's posts correctly. with abit of my own additional notes and links, with great thanks to busygal's share of experience, i gather the following:

1. her maid came in with ordinary passport (48 pages) - Regular passport (48 pages) : IDR 255,000 - until end of 2014, then all new application must be E-passports (IDR 655,000) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesian_passport

2. she applied legally on MOM website and paid for the WP, bonds, insurance, medical checks (SITA) as required by Singapore Govt. http://www.mom.gov.sg/services-forms/Pages/wp-online-fdw.aspx

3. she sends her maid the one-way air ticket and all Sg documents (IPA letter, security bonds, insurance). (email is best)

4. her maid left indonesia with the air ticket as a tourist and does not show any Sg documents upon her departure (indonesians can stay in singapore for 30 days - landing visa) - in fact if indonesia immigration questions can just say she is coming to singapore to visit friend (friend's address) for holiday and will take ferry on her return trip.

5. Once reach Singapore, her maid shows the immigration officer the sg docs... enter w/o problems.

6. Go to SITA checkup, apply insurance online, and pick up WP card within 3-5 working days.

KTKLN card might be an issue on her return trip to Indonesia, \"if\" immigration officer checks how long she had left indonesia. Best to get hold of a valid KTKLN card before departure, http://mynotzs.blogspot.sg/2012/11/overseas-workers-id-card-ktkln.html , Apply online: http://ktkln.bnp2tki.go.id/ , apply at local offices : http://ktkln.bnp2tki.go.id/lokasi_ktkln.pdf
KTKLN card itself is free, but you need to get an insurance which costs about Rp290,000 for 2 years..

For Ex-FDW who had only recently left Singapore, should be able to get the KTKLN card done at Indonesia by signing the contract, and posting to Singapore and her employer in Singapore takes it to Indonesia embassy in Singapore for stamp. FDW went back to Indonesia for holiday, and she is renewing her contract after her holidays... \"should\" not be a problem.. after getting the contract stamped, just need the followings:
http://www.kemlu.go.id/singapore/Pages/AboutUs.aspx?IDP=108&l=en
1. Passport & Work Permit (try with her old work permit copy scan + new IPA letter)
2. Employment Contract, endorsed by Indonesian Embassy
3. She will also need to purchase premium of workers' insurance in Indonesia, Rp. 290.000 for 2 years. or Rp. 170.000 for 1 year. Processing time: one day service.

The contracts I have seen so far includes a clause that allows either parties to cancel the contract with 1 month's notice.

But of course if both parties does not have any disputes, then they can just do the transfer process instead of going the legal way.

The right to cancel contract is = the right to a transfer????

in legal terms, No. It depends entirely on the contract terms and conditions.
If the contract between the employer and FDW includes \"transfer\" terms, then yes, otherwise, No.

But the helper can request assistance from the agency (she did pay them alot of $$$) The agency might have more info available regarding this. or you could try to get a copy of the contract from the FDW and read through the terms.

Although either party can cancel the contract with x month notice, it worth noting that this does not removes any liabilities that may arise from canceling the contract. eg. unpaid agency fees, unpaid salaries, etc..

note also that the current employer paid agency fees for the FDW ranging from $700-$2500, so I would think the current employer will be reluctant to lose the paid agency fees, as such the agency will also normally try to be on the employer's side when any disputes arise. - best to seek MOM's advice.

My own understanding as below:
Cancel contract process: (assuming employer doesn't want to cancel the contract)
1. give notice to cancel, plus inform agent and MOM of the same.
- I believe MOM will give some assistance on this matter as well, so why not call up and ask?
2. after 1 month, either agent or MOM should assist to terminate the current contract.
3. New employer may apply for work permit for the FDW

Transfer process:
1. Current employer apply to transfer for the FDW
2. New employer verifies.
3. FDW transferred to new employer.

i rmb contract term of 1 month notice appllies to both parties, but i think the maid would need still need to.pay agent money. and employer signed 8 months cheques to agent. so 2 issues,

1. if current employer doesnt want to pay for transfer fees, then either the maid or new employer will habe to lay the transfer fees. Transfer fees are very cheap and are not the problem.
2. if maid gives 1 month notice, i dunno if she still need to pay for the remaining 5 cheques.

The maid cannot insist on getting transferred. No such thing as 1 mth notice to transfer. If employer refuses to transfer her, and she refuses to work, the employer after cancelling her work permit, HAS to send her back to her homeland. Employer will :moneyflies: .

The contracts I have seen so far includes a clause that allows either parties to cancel the contract with 1 month's notice.

• RE: KTKLN for indo maid?

To sum up, for the indonesia side, most important is the Passport and KTKLN card.

To apply KTKLN: - http://ktkln.bnp2tki.go.id/ or go to local office : http://ktkln.bnp2tki.go.id/lokasi_ktkln.pdf
I suggest bring 2 copies of each document to quicken the process at KTKLN office.
1. FDW’s KTP card ( similer to Singapore NRIC)
2. FDW’s KK card ( Birth Certificate)
3. FDW’s Passport - 2 photocopies from the Identification page and the last page if the Employers
address is chopped from the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore
4. 2 passport size photos (white background colour photo)
5. Pay for 2 years insurance at KTKLN office (approx 290,000 RP)
6. if officer ask for kopi money... just cry hard =x

I also noticed the requirement for an employment contract.
7. Employment contract endorsed by Indonesia Embassy in Singapore.
(not sure if only applicable to ex-workers coming back to SG or also to new helpers)
