Isn't this subject to IP vacancy availability? If no one leaves SCGS IP in the next 2-3 years (Sec 1-3), there is no chance of transferring from O levels to IP stream. Unless i misunderstood?
Do well in Sec 1 and 2 to get a chance at going to IP in Sec 3. I think this is a better option as you get a choice at Sec 3 to decide if you want to continue in your 'O' levels or try out IP. -

Scgs IP is AL8. What is Cedar IP, also AL8?
AL 8M
1st choice - SCGS IP
2nd choice - Cedar Girls IP
3rd choice - St Nicholas O level
Results - St Nicholas O level
Question to MOE - How can you determine whether a student qualifies for O level or IP track based on balloting? Does it make sense to the student? -
RE: 2021 PSLE Discussions and Strategies (Children born in 2009)
Just called SCGS, both IP and Express AL8

RE: 2021 PSLE Discussions and Strategies (Children born in 2009)
I saw some earlier discussions that under this year system, may be better for those with AL6 to select only 1, either RGS or NYGHS, as 1st choice and then select a safety net school (COP AL7, AL8) as 2nd choice, whereas in past years the decision could be 1st and 2nd choices as RGS and NYGHS since school choice order does not matter and top schools get filled up first before the rest.
Plus survey results are showing majority of those less than AL10 are having, AL6 and AL8. Understand survey results not 100% of the cohort, it may skew towards children with better AL due to their KS parents.
Just wondering cos of safety net thinking, will it be possible that top 2 schools RGS NYGHS may not get totally filled up because some AL6 may not want to go through balloting risks. And inadvertently caused their "safety net" schools eg RVHS, NJC, SCGS etc to be super hard to get in this year and squeeze out the AL7 and AL 8, leaving 0 chance for AL9? -

Lowest possible raw score for AL8 is AL 1 1 1 5 ( 90+90+90+65) = 335
Can you share the source of data that al8 can be as low as 247? Also pls share the correct calculation method, thanksokie\" post_id=\"2048603\" time=\"1637902256\" user_id=\"44307:

your 3/4 raw to tscore conversion is incorrect
If we translate that to 2020 t-score it will be around 246.4
The reason why its so low is because AL5 cover a wider score band of 65 to 74.[/quote]Ok thanks -

NJC COP for 2020 was 254 or AL7. Under AL system, AL8 can go as low as 247 if there is an AL5 subject in the mix.
Very low chance for NJC partly also due to its centralized location.
In the west, better choose RVHS
Just wondering, how do u know AL8 can be as low as 247? The lowest permutation i can get is 251 (65 + 90 + 90 + 90 )/4*3 -

My son got 8(P) and we stay in the west. No chance for NJC?
