janet88:You are really blessed. Or maybe it's because I look a bit too auntie, so their service attitude go down when they see me. Hehe.so far, i don't have any problems for staff to call me when titles arrive or transfer from one store to another.okmum:Hi Grr_roxy, Janet88 and Jetstar,
Yes, the Popular staff can transfer books around outlets. But it's whether they WANT to do it or not. I suppose the more hardworking staff will do it. I have now concluded that there is now a vast difference in attitude among the outlets. At least I now know which outlet to head to if I want good service, including ordering books from suppliers and making transfers.![]()

I can understand your frustrations. I have received really poor service as well, but from Kovan. Sigh. Imagine the amount of time wasted if we have to make another trip to a separate outlet, just because we got the wrong info!Good survey!
Yes, I agree Marine Parade outlet is good to excellent. They can pinpoint exactly where the book / assessment book is.
I have an opposite experience with Tampines outlet. Not only cannot tell me where the assessment guide book is but told me it was out of stock!! I was not convinced so went to look through the shelves myself and found it from a different part of the assessment section! Perhaps that particular staff is a part timer or inexperienced or simply bo chiap. -

Good: Nex branch. Helpful in finding books and do transfer.
Thank you for letting me know! I don't stay too far away from NEX, but I don't always go there, because it can get quite crowded, esp on weekdays. I will try the Popular there the next time!

I ordered storybooks from Popular Online once. Super long waiting time, 3-4wks. Thought they will just bring in books from other outlets to your collection outlet so that I do not need to go around sourcing. But that's not true. They bring in from overseas supplier. The books were meant for birthday gifts. End up, I have to buy something else to give and then the books as belated gifts. This will be my first and last time buying from their online website.
Awesome. Thank you for letting us know!

I have been checking with my colleagues, relatives and friends during the CNY period. The following is the updated result of my survey.
- - Good (Excellent customer service + Order Books from Suppliers + Update customer when books arrive): Bras Basah, Lot 1, West Gate, Marine Parade, Hougang
Once again, I want to say that we parents have a lot of things to do, and cannot waste resources and time looking for a few assessment books in 2, 3 or 4 Popular outlets. Please do let us know if you have additional feedback.
- Average: Jurong Point, Tampines
- Poor (Satisfactory customer service + Do not order books from suppliers + Do not update customer when books arrive): United Square, North Point, Bukit Panjang
- Very Poor (Failed customer service + Do not order books from suppliers + Do not update customer when books arrive): Kovan (Heartland Mall)
- - Good (Excellent customer service + Order Books from Suppliers + Update customer when books arrive): Bras Basah, Lot 1, West Gate, Marine Parade, Hougang

hardly able to buy kids' school books online because there will be certain titles not available at popular.
Exactly! It will certainly save a lot of time and effort if we do not have to run around 2 or 3 popular outlets just to get a couple of assessment books. I have had enough of Popular staff telling me that this and that book is out-of-stock, and I need to go blah blah blah to get. As if we parents don't have other things to do.
Which is why I am keen to know which Popular outlets provide good customer services, including taking the effort to order the books from suppliers, and then updating us that the books have arrived.
I have made a compilation of Popular outlets (for assessment books) based on fellow parents' feedback:
Good: Bras Basah, Marine Parade, Hougang
Poor: Heartland (Kovan), North Point, United Square
Let's keep the list going! -

You are right! I just browsed the Popular website, and it does not show any online information pertaining to assessment books. They only show fictional books, etc.champion,
i have been searching for 'assessment books' in popular for a long time...wondering why they took out that selection. saves me time shortlisting for titles across different publishers. -

My favourite one is Parkway Parade. Although it can get super crowded on Sundays, the staff usually maintain their cool. No black faces. And I once asked for Sec 1 and 2 history guide books , they were able to update me when the stock arrived.
Yes, you are right. The staff at Marine Parade are quite friendly. They took down my number and called me back when the assessment books arrived. But i have since moved house, so it's abit inconvenient for me now. Sigh.
