RE: Holy Innocents' Primary
May I know whether there are any parents of P1 or P2 kids here who have enrolled in Morning Star student care centre for next year? The school bus co told us that they will not send my P1 daughter to Morning Star but to the school and she has to find her way to Morning Star herself. If any parents of older kids have been through this before, appreciate also your advice on this. Thanks.

RE: Canossa Catholic Primary
Updates on the student care:
I received my confirmation letter of registration last Friday and managed to call the student care centre today.
The centre is located inside CCH which is within the same compound as CCPS. There is St Michael’s Church next door as well but I believe it’s a separate compound from the Canossian institutions.
For those going to P1 next year, the convenience is quite unbeatable as the school is shifting back to the Sallim Road compound in Dec 2014.
The lady in charge is Maryann (sounds quite stern but was very helpful). Tel: 67485777.
Fees are $290 per month currently with $30 non-refundable registration fee. The centre operates from morning till evening. I’m not sure why they start in the morning but maybe there are children from other schools in the afternoon session. Official program starts once the girls are walked over from CCPS (lunch then homework). Ends at 5.15, I think girls taking school bus get picked at that time. The rest stay around till their parents come by 6.30. Gate closes at 7 p.m.
Children are put in classes of 20 with one teacher/supervisor in charge of each class. Homework time starts after their lunch but the younger ones are encouraged to nap if they feel tired. I didn’t ask her how or where they can nap.
There is a literacy program on weekdays and music percussion program on Saturdays. Weaker students get coached by volunteers (she didn’t say who these volunteers are, I suspect ex-students who did well in school).
Holiday Program is from 8.30 to 5.30 during all the school holidays. Centre closes for 5.5 days in December but is open all other days except Sundays and public holidays (probably in lieu as well).
Hope I have covered everything. The fees certainly look very reasonable compared to Maris Stella’s student care where my girl’s twin brother will be going to. -
RE: Catholic High vs Maris Stella
lchunleo: There is no more special/express stream in MSHS Sec. But neither do they have normal classes.
There is however a very big gap between the best class in Sec 1 - boys scoring in the range of the TS and the last class which comprises mostly the DSA and appeal cases. The peer influence is very great as I can see the boys in the best classes scoring way above the boys from my son’s class in the SA1 (yes, he is in the worst class).
Fortunately, good teachers are also allocated to the worst class, I really can’t find any fault with my son’s teachers this year (as compared to his primary school teachers). -
RE: Canossa Catholic Primary
Mummy phtthp: There is a student care centre inside the Canossaville Children's Home which takes in the students both from the School for the Deaf and the Convent, I think.

I will be calling them soon after I get my registration confirmation letter today or tomorrow. My daughter is going in next year together with your friend's child, do ask her to PM me for more info next week. -

RE: Canossa Catholic Primary
Thank you phtthp!
You are right, I should start her now since the school will not be sending them for lessons.
:lovesite:
I asked my ex classmates who were from ccps but nobody bothered to give me an answer. Perhaps they don't have daughters there, I don't know. -
RE: Canossa Catholic Primary
Hi mummies (& daddies) of CCPS girls. I’d like to seek some advice from those whose children are currently in the school.
May I know if CCPS has swimming lessons for P1/2 girls? My daughter will be going to CCPS next year (barring any unforeseen balloting) and I was thinking of starting her on swimming lessons now but if the school is going to do it, I thought I might as well leave it to them next year.
Appreciate any replies, thanks. -
RE: Looking for a maid?
Hi xueyan & any other employers reading: I only saw this post today so I believe xueyan’s maid must have been transferred to someone else already. Appreciate if anybody else is giving up their maid (reasonably okay) please let me know (PM). Thanks.
