I'm P6 and aiming for schools focusing on Science ^^ NUS and SST are top choices although the chances of getting in are extremely slim. My senior who graduated last year got into SST. And well.. I would say peer influence is greater actually. We see our peers everyday, and we might look up to some of our peers. For me, even though I'm is 6E and my results are higher than average, i think it's still quite hard. So peer influence isn't actually 'healthy'. It's better to have parental influence as parents are the ones who experienced it and knows more
